Blizzard1260 problems... a GURU is hunting me....
« on: August 17, 2003, 10:02:39 AM »
I miss my A1200T! About a month ago I was sitting at the computer and it suddenly made a reset, but it shouldn't be a problem at all. Unfortuanately it became a problem...

Mayby I should give you my config before I go on so here it is. A1200 in RBM Towerhawk II, Kickstart 3.1, OS3.5 with BoingBag 1 and 2, Blizzard1260, Blizzard SCSI, Mediator PCI 1200, Voodoo Banshee GFX card, D-Link 10/100 MBit card, 2 x 64 MB ram, 9,1 GB SCSI-II Quantum Atlas HD, 1 x Memerox CD-drive, 1 x Memorex CD-RW-drive.

After the reset I waited but nothing came onto my screen, which was set for the gfx card. I switched over to normal video mode, and saw that the system couldn't find my Mediator board and the addons on the Mediator. I opened a CLI window and typed PCIInfo, and it confirmed that it couldn't find anything, it couldn't even find the Mediator. The Blizzard boards were both there and all ram was accounted for.

I then tried to reset the computer a couple of times to see if that helped...it didn't. I then turned off the computer and waited to the next day. I powered up but unfortuanetely the problem was still there... I then decided to copy all my files on the SYS drive to a new directory on one of my other partions, and formatted the sys drive. Then I rebooted and inserted my WB3.0 disk and made a full install using the Install icon on the Install3.0 disk. Before I made a new reset I manually copied 68040.library, 68040new.library and 68060.library to SYS:Libs, and CPU060 and Rom2Fast to SYS:C.

I then made a reset, and thought that every thing would boot up as normal, but it didn't. The system gave me some strange requesters saying that an error had occured when OS tried to load either C:Copy or C:Assign. The error codes were either     #80000002, #80000003 or #80000004, which according to GUI-GURU means bus error (..02), addressing error (..03) and illegal instructions (..04)

The day it happened I hadn't copied anything to SYS: at all. I was just copying some games to a different drawer and copying some MP3's to another partion when the computer made a reset. One guy suggested the my motherboard was broken so I installed a new one. I have also tried to change the ram modules, the harddrive to an IDE harddrive, to remove the CD drives, to remove the Mediator board, and inserting my Blizzard 1230-IV instead of the Blizzard1260.

None of the abovementioned things helped on the problem. Is there anyone out there that have had the same problem as me? If there is I would like to know how the problem can be fixed, because I really miss my A1200!

Rip off all your cards and cables. Try to run your Amiga 1200 with only a diskdrive. If this doesn't work. Use your old PSU. If this is working, then your PSU has been broken.
