@ del, Just make something up like your having nightmares or sleeping problems. Aslong as you dont make up a physical illness.

I'm sorry you're in this position but I can't help there's a lot more to this.

However, it is not normal for people to be uncontactable for 2 days. So, the company requesting you to have a medical check up is not unreasonable.

If you comply, they have no reason to sack you.

If you do not comply, you certainly don't help your position. Think of the situation from their side and put yourself in their place. What would you think?

Also, if you didn't touch the CD, how do you know porn was on it? You only have this other person's word - then you reported him for having porn? Did anyone check him for having the disk? Did they find it and check it?

Contacting all the media won't help if you only present half the facts.

So is the disc in his possession or is it with the boss now.

he has the disc. but when it happened i report it about 3 to 4 hours later

Ok if I understand right, the disc was never actually confiscated by your employer?

In which case it's presumably now your word against his, unless witnesses were present.

It does seem strange they should take this action, even though nothing actually exchanged hands.

I'm just guessing you both have been temporarily suspended pending your allegation being properly investigated
and any other underlining issues between you and your colleague.

If you don't play it by the book, then it's just not going to be good.

Go to the doctor, otherwise you are giving them a reason to suspect you.

I have no idea what this media thing you are trying to do is all about. It's sounds really nutty. You disappeared for two days without telling work (was this before you were suspended?) so it looks really bad for you. So if you wish to keep your job, then go to the doctor, and explain the situation to him, in a non-hysterical manner.

If you've already been fired, then talk to a solicitor instead. Being fired without previous warnings for reporting such behaviour within the company and workplace bullying should be appealing to any solicitor in that field.

But number one - play it legally and by the book. Don't give them cause to find solid evidence justifying their actions against you.

You're an idiot if you play hardball and refuse to go to the doctor or do anything they request. On the other hand you should talk to HR and your union representative (if applicable) about this as well.

No it probably because he went missing for 2 days. I'm with Hattig on this go see the doctor, what your doing now will only make your life harder and any court case that you may have (going to newspapers, radio. etc etc).
Also i feel you may have overreacted here a bit (and if you were justified you should have gone straight away to your boss instead of waiting 3 hrs), should have waited till the guy tried it again and setup some sort of trap to catch him in the act (ie webcam or mic or something like that).

Hmm, the more I read about it the more I can understand the position of you company. This is not about the porn CD, it`s - from the point of your company - only about your behavior. They want to be sure that you have "just" overreacted a little bit and are not a complete nutcase and they want to have this confirmed by a doctor.
I can understand that this is humiliateing for you, but if you want to keep your job, you should play along.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

I'm confused as to whats gone on.

As I understand it...

A guy comes up to you at work with a CD and wants to give it to you. He says "Hey heres some porn"

You refuse to take this CD and a few hours later go and report what happened to the boss.

Then you run away from work and go missing for 2 days.

When you are finally found work inform you that you will be suspended unless you provide them with a sick note which is probably to explain why you have been off for 2 days without contacting them.

You decide to phone the BBC and a load of paper.

It sounds a bit extreme to me. You don't even know if there was porn on the disc. He might have been joking and as you didn't take the disc of him and look at it I don't understand why you were so disturbed that you had to lock yourself up for 2 days.

I think the original poster should go to the doctor.  There is something very wrong about the way he types and replies to postings.

And dont forget perople we are only getting one side of the story here.

If I went AWOL for two days where I work with no contact I would probablt be sacked.

I agree, very strange story. Besides,I thought porn was a GOOD thing. Wish people at my work place would dish it out like that. It would probably make me want to go to work more, not less. ;-)
