Question about "SYSINFO" results.
« on: May 23, 2008, 08:02:15 PM »
Hello everybody.  I just noticed after running SYSinfo V3.24, that it states that my MMU is "not in use".  What exactly is this saying?  Should I enable this if I am able to.  I am currently running an Amiga 2000 with A2630 accelerator.  Thanks

Barney

I think it just means the MMU is there but not being used by any software.

If you want to be sure you could try this:
http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/CheckMMU

Ok, I downloaded the MMUcheck program from Aminet.  I followed the directions and got the MMU started successfully.

Rather than restarting the MMU everytime I start the computer, is there a way for it to start automatically.  Is there a start up folder of some kind.  Thanks.

The MMU will kick in if it's required. You don't need to turn it on. The MMU check software enables the MMU because it uses it, but so will any other software which requires the MMU.

NP. By the way, to go back to your earlier question about a "startup folder", yes there is WBStartup (in your Workbench partition), and also startup-sequence and user-startup in the S: drawer. Any apps dropped in to WBStartup or typed in to startup-sequence or user-startup will be launched on startup.

Not actually necessary in this case, but now you know ;-)

IIRC the only case you should enable the 68030 MMU always is when you use a BridgeBoard (so that you can still enable the datacache).
