Harddisk drives problem
« on: May 22, 2008, 12:55:57 AM »
Hi,
I'm not sure if something similar has been posted before, but here goes:
all the harddisk drives i've had installed on my amigas were previously used in Windoze machines, no problem.
However, when i wanted to use a amiga-formatted harddisk back in the Wintel PC, Windoze could detect it but unable to list it in 'My Computer' / explorer.
Likewise, harddisks that have been used in Linux setup cannot be listed in Windows for use.
Hence my question is: what needs to be done before a harddisk used previously in non-Windoze systems could be used in Windoze properly?

Another problem:
i bought a pci Adaptec controller and a SCSI hdd to try out SCSI in a Wintel machine. Once installed, i could enter into some kind of DOS screen to validate / prep / format the SCSI drive, but after entering Windoze the scsi drive did not show up in 'My Computer' / explorer. Is that normal?
(actually i bought the scsi drive with the intention of using it to replace the aging hdd in my A3000. The adaptec card just came with it. Frankly i have little idea of how to set up the ultra-wide scsi hdd in the A3000)

Dear Amiga experts, kindly lend me your help & advice! TIA.

Click "start - programs - accessories - administrative tools - computer management".

In the opened window program, go "disk management". There you'll find your SCSI disk. Right-click on it and select "initialize".

Wait until the partition/format process is done and you'll see the device under windoze exploder.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
