So I pick up this Amiga hardware...
« on: May 19, 2008, 02:54:40 AM »
..and in it is a Amiga 4000D.  Side of the case is cut out for 2 fans (PSU fans) to keep it cool.  Owner says "you may have to reinstall the OS".  Ok no biggie.  I get it home and decide to power it up to see what I'm working with.  Yellow screen, constant reboots.  On further inspection the IO ports on the side have green corrosion.  So I completely disassemble it, put vinegar on the infected areas, remove the battery, and I still get the yellow screen as soon as I turn it on.  Sometimes I get a real quick green but mostly yellow.

If you're going to own a Amiga at least take care of it.  So I'm out a few bucks but at least I now have the A3640 rev 3.1 that I was looking for and a backup PAR card, psu and floppy.  Damn.  Wanted to add another A4k to the collection.  The problem is I have complete A4kD's but no spare or parts A4k!  :(

So if you have a A4k mobo and a top cover.. PM me.

yellow screen is usually processor problem. maybe it's the a3640 that's gone, not the a4000. (or maybe both)
I believe in mt. Fuji

OUCH!  So you're the one who beat me to that 4000!!!  I'm working on repairing my 4000D, we could try swapping the 3640 with my working one.  Maybe we should start that San Antonio Amiga User Group
