I've popped out the 68040 from my Apollo 1240, and the next step is soldering in a socket for replacement. Then we'll see if the old CPU still works while I try to find a good source for 68060 chips (I know the site that everyone refers to, but I would like something a bit more professional and an offer that hasn't expired 9 months ago ;-) ).
Anyway, I am too paranoid for this, so I want to see that there's no extra magic on the 1260 cards. The PCB is supposedly the same (the text on one of the inner PCB layers says 1240-1260, so should be). I know about the CLK jumper selector (040 or 060 settings) and the 060 jumper (next to the SCSI jumper), but the 68060 is a 3.3V CPU and the card is 5V, so I was expecting some extra electronics to decrese the voltage. There isn't any, and there isn't room for any.
If you have an A1260 and a digital camera, let me know. I would like to have a high-res picture of each side of the PCB, preferably the whole card in the picture so I can see any differences.
