A3000 led pcb

Got my A3000 in the mail today!

Took it out of the box and I could hear something rattling inside  :cry:

The led board cracked and no longer lighting up ...

I see Amigakit sell a 1200 led pcb , anyone know if anyone sells a 3000 one?

It seems like these always get broken during shipping. Perhaps someone could either make up a batch or post Gerber files for these so we can have our own made.

I'll look into it after I am done with the stuff I am working on now. This won't help you in the mean time though.

which counts with LED reuse, as they are lo longer avaiable

That's alright. It should be easy enough to file down some translucent plastic rectangles to use a "lenses" in the holes and just mount a regular LED of any color behind it on the board.

If the actual LEDs are still intact.  They could be unsoldered and reused.

If I recall, this board has nothing but the LEDs on it, maybe a couple of resistors and the connecting wires.  Into how many pieces is the original broken?  Can it not be re-assembled (perhaps glued) and the traces repaired with solder and bus wire?

You might be waiting a long time for a replacement.

Quite right, the board only has the LEDs on it and they both appear to be intact :-D

Now to find someone who can solder!

I'm having the same problem: the LED pcb was already broken when I bought my A3000 a couple of years ago.

Maybe it's a nice thing for me to learn how to solder and finally make a replacement...

The beauty of reusing/repairing the original board is spacing for all the components and the mounting hole is perfect.  The 3000's cover will slide in place with no fuss (or damage).

We need a tutorial on soldering, maybe on Wikipedia.  The hazard is applying heat for too long (more than 20 seconds).  The Junctions in the LEDs can overheat and fail.  If you really over-do it, the traces will lift off the circuit board.  A 25 to 30 Watt iron (15 Watts is too slow) is good for quick heat.

Guys, the tracks will burn off the small pcb if you try to solder the LED's back on. Best to use some hot glue from behind and use the conductive silver pens or paint to connect all the tracks.

I did this with my A3000's and it works well.
