Flat Screen Monitor on Amiga 3000
« on: May 11, 2008, 12:28:38 PM »
I bought a Flat Screen monitor today and when i connected it up to my Amiga 3000 the screen says out of sync or something.
I found it weird since the A3K has a built in scandoubler.
It makes no change whether it enabled or disabled.
Any ideas?

EDIT: It says out of timing

It might lack the ability to sync down to 50 Hz vertically. Try NTSC to see if that works.

Amiga gives via SD 50hz vsync that most of times is not acceptable by most LCD screens that have 56hz min vsync.
NTSC will run ok afaik, dunno if with both mouse buttons at start you can change it via the early boot screen

 Ways to do it:

 - Connect your old RGB monitor (or an A520 hooked on a TV set). When the A3k loads the WB, change the screenmodes to NTSC (you know how to change it?*);

 - Connect your old VGA monitor on the FFed output and do the same;

 You could also download an old app called "Amiga2NTSC" (Amiga2PAL). Findable on Aminet, IIRC. Just for CLI use, of course (put it in your shell-startup).

 * Open Storage/Monitors and move the NTSC monitor to DEVS/Monitors. Move PAL to Storage/Monitors, BTW.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Hi,
On the mobo of my A3000 (rev 9, IIRC) there's a switch/ jumper that toggles between PAL & NTSC.
My A3000 has KS3.1 rom, and works OK with my Samsung Syncmaster 940B.

Just last week, i hooked up my A3000 to another Syncmaster (151S) and worked OK too. But when i tried to run an old demo (i forgot the name), it was out of sync with the LCD. Afterward, the Syncmaster 151 went out of order - it looked as if no dispaly, but when scrutinized closer there was actually a very dim display barely visible.
The switching of screenmode must have upset the LCD electronically :-(
I don't know if the 151S is still repairable or not....
