« on: May 09, 2008, 05:53:34 AM »
Hello all, I have a silly question.  In order to be able to use a Floppy drive (I think it's 1.76 mb) or something like that.  Is ther a jumper that need to be set on the motherboard?  I have a reveision 6 Amiga 2000 motherboard.  Thanks.

If I got you right you need an HD floppy disk drive.
Your current one seems to be a "DD" type, that can only format & read up to 880 kB...
All the best,

Yes.  :)  Thanks for getting my terms correct.  I have a DD drive and would like to install it as a second internal drive in my A2000.  Are there jumpers to be set or special cables to be used?

J301 should be closed, aside from that it should work fine.

That's assuming you're trying to fit an Amiga double density (880KB) drive and not a PC or an Amiga HD (1.76MB) one. If you want to fit an Amiga HD drive you'll need KS 2.04 or higher I think, but I could be wrong. KS 3.0 should be ok anyway.

If you're trying to fit a PC drive, you'll need a Catweasel card to use it properly. Otherwise it might work as a DD drive (880KB) with some jiggery-pokery but you will never get more than 880KB at best.
