I finally have a Toaster!

I procured an A2000 with Toaster thru Craigslist. And it all seems to work! "Seems" because I don't have a video cable. :(

Does anyone have a video cable I could buy?

Radio Shack, Circuit City, Best Buy, Sears, Walmart?

Should I go on?  Also you have not said what type or length you are looking for.  One of the first things you probably need to get is a few BNC to RCA jack adapters, unless you want to make your own cables from Coaxial cable and BNC connectors on one end and probably RCA on the opposite end to attach to your video camera, VCR, or DVD player.  If you don't have a timebase corrector, you need one to feed from a VCR and I think the same applies to the DVD player as well.

Sorry, I meant the computer video. As in the 23-pin to 9-pin cable needed to go from the back of the computer to the back of the monitor. I have plenty of BNC cable.

I bought two Amiga monitor cables from them. You need either the A-9 or A-6 cable, depending on connector at the monitor end.

Redmond Cable is great and has a well-deserved solid reputation. I still have a custom 23-pin extension cable Redmond made for me 15 or more years ago.

But I do see this notice on the Redmond site now that will impact us:

Indy, looks good. Box is nice and clean and "military spec," as someone has said on here a few times. Got some yellowed keyboards and mice here, too.

Have fun. I'm still hoping to have NewTek repair my Toaster card, which had a component literally explode when I turned on the power for the first time. Had the top off the 2000 case at the time, and it looked like the Fourth of July for a second or so.

A little help, please.

When I double click on the Toaster icon, I get the following error:

Could not obtain the Switcher font.


I found an entry on the Newtek site saying to:

copy the Fonts directory from disk 1 of a VT software install set (2.0 or 3.0) to SYS:fonts.


But when I insert disk 1, the only icon is the VT install. There is no Fonts directory.

I can't recall too much of my Amiga OS knowledge. Wasn't there a way to only show certain icons in a folder? So maybe the Fonts folder is there, just hidden? How do I find it?

Okay, I figured out how to Show All, I found the Fonts folder on the Toaster Disk 1 and copied everything over to the SYS fonts folder. To no avail. I get the same "Could not obtain the Switcher font." error.

Any ideas?

OMFG! It's working!



Tonight, I popped the Kickstart disk out of the floppy drive and it worked like a charm!

I'm in 1991 heaven!

Oh, and thanks for all your help everyone!

Now once I get a BNC-RCA cable from work, I'll begin making b/w transitions to use as mattes in After Effects and Premiere to re-do some old college productions and keep that nostaligic Toaster feel.

Yeah, Toasters are amazing. I've got 2 of them right now although I'm thinking about selling my A2000 Toaster. I just don't have the space for it and I'm working with still graphics and not doing anything with video. My A4000 Toaster and my A2500 are enough for me for the moment.

A4000D with CSPPC, Cybervision 64 and a Flicker Magic flicker fixer. A4000T Toaster Flyer & CSMKII. All systems completly retro and classic and mostly used to do geometic art as in my avatar.
