Well I guess that means you just can't update the
firmware. Which is a real shame, because that means
you can't install a paloma or concierto (if you want
to), because they need firmware 7.4.

yup, I think you're right... oh well, most importantly the card itself works :)

What you also could try is to remove your cyberstormppc
and try to update the flash then (if you have a replacement
accelerator card). Just read in a piv-faq that piv.resource
1.6 had problems with cyberstorm scsi module and updating
the firmware solved it. So updating from 1.6 is definately
possible.

ah, that's probably the reason :) alas I don't have the original 3640 board that came with the computer so I won't be able to try it out :(

The faq does not talk about Cyberstorm PPC, but Cyberstorm
+ scsi module (computer hangs etc). But it's definately
worth a try if you ever get a 3640 (they are very cheap on
ebay).
