Hooking up Joysticks and Joypads to WINUAE
« on: April 25, 2008, 03:59:48 PM »
Does an off the shelf USB Joystick or a USB Joypad work with WINUAE? or Does it only work with X-Arcade?
WinUAE enthusiast.

Curious about: Amiga OS, Morph OS, X-Amiga, Amikit, Amiga Forever, WinUAE, Efika, Minimig,
and other forms Amiga-like Computers.

Shure does, you have full access to modern controllers with the right adapters. USB controllers are easy to setup. I have a PS2, Gamecube, XBOX to USB adapter that allows me to use controllers that would never work on a real Amiga.

Play Ruff N Tumble on a laptop. Pretty cool.

How is properly setup in WINUAE?

Once I install a joystick driver, will this appear in
Port 0 and Port 1?

I really want to play Agony and Shadow of the Beast using a Gamepad.

I have one of those Nostromo USB game pad thingies and it seems to work fine with WinUAE. As long as Windows can see it, you can select the device in the WinUAE Game & I/O Ports menu.

Make sure you can see the gamepad in the Windows Game Control window first.

Then you can go over to the Input menu and set the buttons as you like.

I had to take it out of Compatibility Mode and choose Configuration #1 to be able to have custom buttons though.
