From "new" amiga fan.
« on: April 24, 2008, 06:14:41 PM »
I welcome.
Has decided to write pair words about me.

Down to the beginnings 1990, because of politic, we can't get foreign things in the country. In Russia, it was practically impossible to find computers, except for self-made clones ZX Spectrum. And I have ZX too. Then, began to appear others computers. Many-many PC, some Atari, and few Amiga.
(In that case, here, in Russia, we do not have big Amiga fandom. And after all that years its no more then 30-60 active Amiga users, I think.)

Has got acquainted with Amiga 600 approximately in 1993.
I own my first Amiga 600 about 2 years, but only for playing games, watching demos and listen music. Wonderful time, I came from high-school and could stay for half day playing games. And a half night :)

Little bit later, I have entered the institute also to me was necessary PC, for training, and i switched to PC. All that years i always want to get Amiga back, but no chances to get - computer was rare and if was on sale, only under the high price.
Several years ago i managed to find some Amiga machines, in good conditions, and start to make up missed.
I start to learn AmigaOS, but sometimes its not easy to understand what i need to do, and what i get after. :) Almost all documentation in English, and few russian-speaking people, usually can't help me and explain something. :(

To help any other Russian people, with Amiga set up and configuration, and for 'history', i start 'Russian Amiga wiki' project (http://amiwiki.spb.ru). Now i try to understand and translate as much as i possible.

As, the last years I help with the organization CC demo party (http://cc.org.ru), and I show Amiga to visitors in 'exhibition of historical computers' on this party.

PS sorry, my English is really awful. I not bad read, but to write for me difficultly enough.

Yup - my Sprinter came from Russia - a Spectrum clone with a 21MHz Z80, 4MB RAM and a "Flex architecture" - i.e. basically the same FPGA idea as a Commodore One / MiniMig - years before they came out.

Lots of cool and weird machines from Russia! Need a Pentagon and a Scorpion though!

May be. Because spectrum clone - it is only one computer, that you can buy here since later 80, up to earlier 90. In my class each boy had a spectrum. (I call it clones, because here was no original spectrum at all, but many own designed board, with soviet logics chips, and only one original chip was z80 processor)

Well, what do you expect from someone who actually has a Stalin Smiley...

So the only word I know in Russian is useless, what's a female friend in Russian?

So many different names and synonyms. Most common is "podruga" or "podrujka". :)))
