Umm.. now the 1581 is doing the same thing with the original Chinon drive.. Sigh.. When things go wrong they go wrong.. I hope I still have that 1581 service manual..

Fixed, working again with original Chinon drive.

Well all, I lost patience and I am modifying the original Chinon drive and a PC faceplate along with a 3.5 to 5.25 adapter.



It would be nice to know for future reference why my modification failed. Maybe the revision of the drive?



I may put this drive up for sale.

The chip you have is the 1772 but it is just by some other manufacturer. A bit like the Hitachi and STmicro 68000s found in A500s.

Did you try the drive in an Amiga too?

Did you verify that the drive was working in a PC before you started to modify it?
