I need help to install CV64/3D on my 15" LCD Monitor
« on: April 21, 2008, 10:40:12 AM »
I tried this weekend, but no luck. All I got was a message "Out of Range" (With Picasso96).

Before Picasso96, CV64/3D came with 2 disks (Install & Tools). So I decided to install them. I select 31KHz for monitor (I use a Sony 15" LCD), and I proceed with the installation. When it was finished I reboot my Amiga and tried to test some resolutions.

I've already connected my LCD cable to CyberVision64/3D and also the 1084S to RGB. On my LCD I can see the CyberGraphX logo. When I tried different resolutions, in different depths and so on, and pressed "test" my Amiga froze. All I can see is   the CyberGraphX logo with a nasty amiga pointer with some strange lines around it, and everything is stucked. I needed everytime to reboot my Amiga.

So I decided to install Picasso96. But anytime I chose a resolution (ex. 1024x768) always I got a message "Out of range". Please help me, this is going to drive me mad. What I'm doing wrong? :-?  :-?  :-(

Yeah, I could not either with PicassoII and LCD screens (Scandoubled), I think it is the 50-60hz differences.

Probably nothing, but you have to adjust your settings to something your monitor accepts (1024x768@60 Hz) by adjusting the pixel clock - or if you got something like it, some minor adjustments may be needed still.

in your prefs drawer there is a tool for picasso resolutions. looking at the settings there could show that the vertical sync is set too high for your lcd panel which noramlly only do 60-75hz.

My monitor specs are as follows:

Sony SDM-HS53 15"

Max Resolution: 1024x768 / 75Hz

Max Sync Rate (V x H): 75Hz x 61KHz

Any ideas how to configure that in the prefs?

You should also know what's the minimum refresh (50 or 56 probably) and so building screen modes should keep the refresh between 60 and 75 Hz - and the better the nearer 60 or 75 (don't know how for instance 63.88 Hz would work...)

If I'm correct, the minimum refresh rate is 50Hz.

in prefs you should have picasso96mode program. launch it and click on the 1024x768 resolution. to the upper right you have the modes. click on the true color one. right under there you should see a clock slider. while moving it look at the bottom right where you can see the frequency, vertically and horizontal. move the slider to match you lcd panel sync range.

On the OS 3.5 CD, go in Contribution, and put CGX 3 Update !
Try to take Monitor-85Khz, and put all resolution to 60 Hz or VESA. That must work !

Yesterday I selected a screenmode of 800x600 8bit and I got a chunky display on the LCD monitor, only the mouse pointer was correct. Is there any problem with the card?

Of course my Amiga froze again, so it needed a reboot.

I would try using the 57 Hz prefs available in Picasso96. You can select it by using the dropdown bar in the Picasso96Mode prefs program.

As for the Amiga freezing; are you sure about that? Pressing ESC or the left mouse button should return you to RGB output.

Sometimes it's freezing, and sometimes I press ESC to return to prefs.

I want to know if it's necessary to install the 2 disks that came with CyberVision64/3D before Picasso96 or it's not?

Old versions of CGX and Picasso96 on the same partition may cause all kinds of problems, even preventing RTG to work. Best to keep just one of them. Latest versions can work but then you need to change screenmode.prefs by hand and move monitor files prior reboot to change from one system to another - or use 2 boot partitions (like I do).

No, it's not necessary. In fact, you should avoid having both CyberGraphX and Picasso96 installed at the same time.
