A4000 internal...
« on: April 18, 2008, 02:42:29 PM »
hi people,

is there somone who can show me the right internal cable connections for the A4000 desktop?

For example: flat cables for hard drives, floppy drives. Power connectors.

I mean things like "the red side of the flat cable must be on the left side..." and so on.

I ask this because I've just assembled an A4000 with all connections and 68040 cpu card (original) but it happens that, for example, floppy drive doesn't work (it doesn't power on) unless I plug the flat cable in the way opposite to the one it is supposed to be plugged (red side near the power plug).

I am also not sure about the jumpers settings (it should be a PAL A4000), I mean the most important jumpers.

Another question is: the chip ram differs from the fast ram because of the double sided chip mounting?

Another thing: when I switch on the power the Amiga starts but on the screen appears nothing (I see that the monitor receive a signal anyway, but it doesn't change from dark).

Thank you in advance for any kind of help

Mauro

ciao Mauro

look at the internal section. The most important jumpers
you have to check are J100 and J104. To use with the A3640,you have to set both on the Closed: External (68040) position.

Try to make the Amiga start without HD attached: if the hardware is ok, you should see the "Insert workbench" purple screen. Notice that after you switch on the Amiga up to 30 seconds may pass before the screen appears. (that's normal, the amiga wait to see if any IDE device "wakes up".

look at the internal[cut] if any IDE device "wakes up".

Thank you darkcoder, I already have that site in my bookmarks.
Iìll go there and try the settings by following your suggestions.

Best regards

Mauro

Thank you dude, I take it into account for sure  :-)

...and by the way, I forgot to mention that the motherboard should be an A4000/030 one, but not so sure about this.

Mauro

P.S. darkcoder you've got pm.

Ok,

I've changed the J100 and J104 settings and now the A4000 gives me some feedback.

After having switched on the power I can see a yellow screen while the power led flashes quickly for about 10 times (not sure how many times), then the monitor return to a black screen... no more yellow.
