Hi, been thinking of joining..

Hi, been thinking of joining.. those that have real hardware Amigas.

I've tried emulation with uae and had great results, but it just doesn't feel like an Amiga.
My first Amy was my prezzie christmas '88.
It took me less that an hour to want a second drive or memory expansion and I managed to get the expansion a year later.

Stupidly I gave up on the Amiga in 1990 because I needed to do work on the machine and I just wanted something different.
I swapped it for an Atari Portfolio.

1994 and I bought my friends old A500, giving him the cash to defect to the PC world. I got an A500 with one meg two drives hundreds of disks and a printer.

I bought a 1085 monitor (1084 were out of stock) and put the second drive on the left hand side internally. I also piggy-backed a kickstart 2 rom on top of the 1.3 rom. All very unproffesional. But it worked.

Left home, needed money so that Amy was sold.

Now I've been playing with emulation for a while. Thank Cloanto for Amiga Forever! They revived my interest. I've used the Green Amiga Alien Guide to set up a few virtual Amigas. Nice but they're too fast. So I decided that maybe a real Amiga would be a better experience.

Then ebay Amiga prices started going crazy. What's going on? I can understand OS4 hardware increasing in price but why is a basic A1200 increasing? I'm lost.

About a year ago I bought an A1200 Blizzard 28Mhz '020 4MB expansion thinking that it's cheap and will do for some WHDload games.

Now I'm not sure if I can afford the A1200 to go with it. I've already formatted and installed WB3.1 on a CF card, I just can't seem to find someone on ebay that sells good 2.5" ide-CF cards.

My first Amiga was bought from Alders a defunct department store. It came with a few commercial games and a few PD games too. I'd like to know more about that pack.

Anyway, I'd like to say HI to the Amy community.

The basic A1200 is going up because it's getting rarer and more and more people want to get back into old computing/gaming.

Retailers are selling 1 gig sandisk cards for $15 maybe less.  If you need the adaptor do a search "laptop cf adaptor" on ebay
