On the Amiga I'm currently using the 3COM 3589D (10Mbit) network card, with the associated drivers, AmiTCP and SMBFS, to enable me to move files from my shared/passworded share drive on my XP PC (In the house), down about 3 hubs (All 10Mbit too, I think) to my A1200D in the garage.
All accessing is done from the Amiga end due to the nature of SMBFS utility, and there's usually no other computers (that are connected to the network) turned on at the same time.
Moving/copying files from the PC to the Amiga is great - Its pretty fast and the HDD/PCMCIA LED's on the A1200 alternate from one being on solid to the other being on solid.
However, when it comes to moving/copying files from the Amiga to the PC, its soooo slllloooow. The PCMCIA LED winks about 3 times a second and the HDD LED about once every 8 seconds. And CPU usage (Dopus) is down at 40%. I think it took one and a half hours the other day to transfer about 60MB of ZIP files
See the sig for the system specs.
Oh, by PCMCIA LED I don't mean the one on the card's dongle, I mean one I've retrofitted to the mobo where C= left it out.
Hopefully someone might be able to suggest something.
Regards,
Hodgkinson.
