Galaga remake
« on: March 27, 2008, 05:06:20 AM »
Some ppl make a "newer" version of Galaga AGA (with some graphic improvements) and they are selling it with a new name (Warblade).

At least they assume the "fatherhood" of the game.

The game itself is pretty the same Amiga version.

Too bad people who is willing to buy Amiga gear to play those games will buying the peecee version instead real Amiga gear!
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

EMV = Edgar M Vigdal, author of the great Deluxe Galaga and Delexe PacMan games for the Amiga.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

The screenshots look nice.

It should not be difficult to port the game to AMIGA, and the Natami is certainly fast enough to run it.

Did anyone contact the author to ask for permission to port it to AMIGA?

this game is made by the great Edgard M. Vigdal from Norway, he made as mentioned Deluxe Galaga and Deluxe Pacman for the amiga, two of the most popular and highest rated games for the amiga, counting commercial and non-commercial games!
(delxue galaga and pacman where non commercial games).

i've spent many many hours with this game in front of my projector hooked up to the pc. the game is extremely playable and addictive. there is nothing negative about this game as it is a great heritage to the old amiga-classics which the same man made (obviously they where remakes, or upgraded, better versions of Galaga and Pacman).
you can't expect everyone to run buy old expensive amigas, but when people play this game and realize it's an amiga remake, the interest may catch them..

qoute from warblade.as;

"Deluxe Galaga was voted in on the TOP 100 GAMES of all time for the Amiga. It got to #19, all the other games on the list was commercial games, except 1 other; Deluxe pacMan also made by me."

i suggest buying the game like i did it's worth the money and pays money into Edgard probably wanting to make another big classic! (he is working on a new game as we speak i think).

as for porting to real amigas i think that's more difficult than the game looks, it relies on a decent graphics card to look nice and if you got a good graphics card it even takes use of some modern 3d-card features.

Galaga was the best remake of all time. I loved it! Does anyone remember the similar game that played classic music (like ballroom stuff) to the movement of the aliens?

you mean Deluxe, Galaga i suppose?

another mention, the music in warblade is nice, but you can download a real .mod musicpackage from warblade.as with some awesome amiga .mod classics tha make the game even cooler :)

you can also add your own .mods or mp3's to your game-jukebox.

while we are at the "modern-remake of amiga games" trial i want to mention Super Stardust HD for the PS3, i'm sure many have heard of it and played it here but i mention it anyway for those who haven't.
i spent many hours with this game as well and it pays huge homage to the old original i think. i think it's even made by some of the same guys that made the original? finnish fellas, does someone know for sure?

yes as i thought; edgard is working on a sequel to warblade namely warblade 2. should be fun, he is also working on a warblade 1 version for mac computers.

earlier this yeae he registered as an official games-company (EMV Software), 3.2 million hits on warblade.as should speak for itself about the success of his games..

It was like the aliens danced the tango to tango music as they flew in to the screen before they attacked. I thought it was funny. Maybe it was a coin op.

Btw. the full versions of both Deluxe Galaga and Deluxe Pacman are included in AmiKit package - with permission of EMV Software, of course.

Warblade was mentioned here a while back. I tried it and bought it eventually. It's a very nice and addictive remake for the PC.

It was? My bad, m8! I don't "surf" on the game section very often.

To the others: thanks for elucidation of the fatherhood. Indeed it was one of the most addictive games I ever played (even now I play it, sometimes).

I'm thinking in buy the new version, as a form to pay for the old one (and say thanks).

Yes, thats why I have Warblade and the new Pacman from Edgar.

When I think of how many joysticks I've destroyed over the years with Deluxe Galaga and Warblade - Simply marvellous !
