new member saying hello
« on: March 23, 2008, 05:17:30 PM »
Just found this forum last night.
Own several c=64 & 128's, A500, A4000, and a A3000 (in storage).
Everything was in storage for between 5 & 6 yrs after moving, so I'm just getting systems back up and running.
A4000/40 is attached to C-1950. Nothing is online yet.
Seemed to have lost my 1084S in moving, so the A500 isn't running yet (unless I hook it up to the 1950). I have the C=390682-01 for the monitor.
A4000 has a lot of Mac board/attachments that haven't been used in quite some yrs.
Gotta dig out some old Jumpdisks and other software. Have lots of DTP software, but need to figure out how to get one of my printers working on it. Printers are: Brother HL-1440, HP LJ4L, and HPDJ 870.

Any way, just saying hello :)

Greetings.  I learned on a Tandy Color Computer and a C64.
The High School I went to in Texas used C64's and AppleII's.  This was about 1984-1986.

Alot of cool stuff has been happening here.
Minimig is an A500 clone.
Natami is a project to expand the Amiga past AGA.
Clone-A is a project to make a cycle exact chip set.
AmigaOS4 classic has been released for PPC.

Amiga 2000 Forever :)
Welcome to the Planar System.

@c64geezer

Welcome.  Sounds like you have a good collection there.

Within my household, there live an A2000HD, an OS4 machine, several pc's, several game machines, some museum pieces (Z80 stuff), three people, and a cat.

Just found Amiga.org???

Where have you been hiding for all these years?  Welcome anyway and as the others have said, you will never leave.

I lurked for a few years then became a member and lurked some more, but now they can't get me to shut up.  I am having more fun with my Amiga collection than I have had in years.

Hope your 1084S shows up so you can get your A500 running again.

Don't be shy, let us hear what you have to say on all the different topics here.

Again, welcome to the best Amiga site on the Internet and the friendliest group of Amiga users if you need any help.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Thanks everybody for the welcome! Appreciated :)

Just found this forum because we moved, C= stuff and Amiga stuff was in storage (I had no way to connect to my cable modem). That has been for over 5 yrs :(
More to the story, but it's all sad and not interesting reading ;)
Any way, this week I was able to get a 64, a 128, and the 4000 up and running. Going through software like crazy seeing what all I have. The 4000 was about 90% used for DTP. Rest of times was for a few games (lemmings, card games, basketball/football,etc).
I have the IVS Trumpcard with 40meg hd for the 500, so I may have to hook it up to the 1950 and see whats on it.
Getting old seems to affect memory in more ways than one ;)
Getting on the net is through OS/2 Warp, *bsd, or linux. Once in a very rare moment, I'll boot M$ (basically for updates).

I intend on being here a while..just gotta get the machines going, relearning everything, somehow get a printer working with one of the machines, etc.

Thanks again.
'geezer

If your A4000 has 3.1 roms(If not i would get that as the first upgrade), i would recommend OS3.9 it's what i use on my A2000 and A4000 and that has a lot of drivers for the Amiga (proving you use the OS3.5 ones on the OS3.9 CD).

Your not alone in having to relearn lots of stuff.... :-)
But this is the best place to relearn, everyones really helpful here(I know people have helped me heaps since i got back to Amiga's).

Anyway enjoy...  :-D

Hi,

Welcome to A.org, but you have the wrong name for this site this is for Amiga's only. The C64 branch is out in the out house, but we will welcome you and forgive you for your obnoxious name if you take your A4000 out of storage and give it to me.
