I wouldn't say so personally, as it's clear that it's just the box with inserts. If it was ambiguous and implied the A4000 was included that would be different.

I guess we'll know if someone buys it. A collector might want it, but this one looks to be in poor condition so who knows.

Well it's bound to appeal to collectors.

That's who it's targeted at, if they want to spend their hard-earned on an old box that's upto them.

At least the owner didn't just recycle it, and is offering it out to someone who wants it.
Just because it isn't being given away doesn't make it wrong.

I can see where it might 'feel' wrong, selling something that most would have thrown away a long time ago, but to the collector, this is just as valid a piece of history as the actual system itself (more so because by it's very nature it's rarer!)

At the end of the day it's just a box, who cares.

Good point, but if its not in original condition I'd have problems with it. Oh well, looks like he's selling a cd32 box also. Who needs the technology to profit on ebay? :)

If he had a 4000 and sold it, why didn't he send it in its box, if he still has a 4000 he should keep the box for when he does sell it.

Maybe he found it, or is using the profit from the box to put a deposit down on the mortgage he will need in order to keep his 4000 functional!

There may be a lot of Amiga user's out there who have an A4000 and don't have a box.  It makes it a more complete unit.  If I was considering buying an Amiga and there were 2 which were in comparable condition and one had the original box and one didn't, I would bid first and more money on the one with the box.  But of course, that's just me.  I know that in area's such as toy collecting, the original box can make the item worth many many times more than the same item without the box!

If it was closer and in better shape I would snap it up.  Yes I commend him for selling it rather than throwing it out.

Hi

I am always after boxes. Just got an A500 Plus just for the box. If anyone is thinking of dumping their old boxes for Amiga kit then could you contact me first.

Two very bad experiences with boxes... Workbench 2 folder the upgrade completely bound in duck tape. Same with an A600 mint boxed. Sold on the Bay with box, in photograph yet completely covered in duck tape... You can get it off with gentle heat from a hair dryer.

Near disaster ... Guy sent me a boxed A1000 from Canada packaged up in a single sheet of thin bubble wrap... Amazingly it got here to the UK undamaged... Phew.

The boxes are rare cus most folk chuck em away. I have struggled and struggled to get that cheese shaped polystyrene packing that held the modulator in an A500. I guess it was the first thing to get chucked.

I have an A4000T mint never been used, just the case in its box. No mobo or cards, just the empty case and original box.

Anyway... Send me your boxes.. Quite happy to take them off your hands. The artwork on the Amiga and Commodore boxes was just magic. You can see loads of boxes on my website. More needed.

I'd bid for it if it was in the UK.

The seller of this box is also selling an empty a4000D case, very yellowed, but good enough to rehouse a 1200 maybe.
He has 41 items for sale, but I don't think he has cannibalised this 4000.
PS. Perhaps the person who buys the case can get it sent in its box.
