SX-32
« on: March 21, 2008, 01:00:05 PM »
I know the minimum spec for this game is 030 + 8MB, but is this really required? Is there any way to trick the game in to attempting to run on an 020 + 2MB so it will at least attempt to work on a CD32? I know this is a long shot, but I was playing Disposable Hero last night and remembered how much nicer T-Zer0 is, and I would love to play it on my CD32.

....SX32PRO!

It's the only way I can think of buddy.

...kind of not the point I know but the CD32 is a bit limited. I'd love to give you a better answer but I don't know if there is one.

Yeah I was thinking that too. But I could probably get an A1200 with a 1230 for the price an SX-32 Pro would sell for. Not that I really want an A1200. The beauty of the CD32 for me is that I can just stick a CD in and the game will start up. No faffing about with keyboards/mice, no menus. I was really just hoping I could fool the game in to loading on an 020 and just see how it runs.

It's pretty unlikely that it actually *requires* an 030 and won't run on an 020.  Unless it is banking on a built in MMU.  The -6M RAM will kill it though I suspect.

The 020 would probably suffice, but RAM will definitely be the issue - it needs every last bit of Chip RAM (the 1965K I have after a typical boot isn't enough) so if there's a Fast RAM requirement on top of that, you're in trouble.

And I think the CD's not bootable so you'd have to burn a new one yourself with the appropriate files and CD32 dev extensions.

I could make a bootable CD32 disc for the game, but it sounds like memory will be a problem, so probably not much point. It's a real shame they never did a CD32 version of this game!

No i dont think so. It would suck if they scaled down the game as it uses the resurces pretty tight all ready i wouldent want to see a 2mb 020 version as it would look horriable

Its a great game and first time i did see those 3d renders i was amazed ...

An interesting thread moto which has got me playing T-zer0 again :pint:

It's a great game which compares to my all time favourite game Whip Rush on the Sega Megadrive :-)

Unfortunanely I can't get it to begin to run unless it finds 1773015 Bytes Chip + 2097512 Bytes FAST. Oddly enough when choosing to 'Boot With No Startup-Sequence' in both an A1200 and an A4000 it reports:

Gfx Chip ECS Agnus
Display Chip ECS Denise
T0ERROR (S)
AGA Chipset Required

For it to run I have to type:-

Setpatch
Assign T0: Work:T0
cd Work:T0
T-zer0

then it starts and runs perfectly after reporting:-

Gfx Chip AGA Alice
Display Chip AGA Lisa

8-)

Thanks! I have asked the seller which model it is. Not that it really matters, since I would assume any 030 + 8MB would run the game. The thought of T-Zer0 on a great big telly through some great big speakers from the comfort of the sofa makes buying this very, very tempting!

SX-32
« Reply #11 on: March 23, 2008, 09:05:34 AM »
Well it turns out that SX-32 doesn't have an accelerator. The link on the BBOAH appears to be wrong - it links to the SX-32 Pro which is why I thought the one on eBay might be the 030 version.

How likely is it to get an SX-32 with an accelerator (any speed) and how much do they usually go for?

The SX-32 Pro is much more rarer and only tend to appear on ebay once or twice a year.

From the last few sold you should expect to pay around £400-£450
