Can I convert a .PFB font to a .TTF font?
« on: August 06, 2003, 08:26:47 AM »
..Erm,

I guess the title says it really.

I have found a .pfb font that I like but the only way I can use it at the moment is to import it using CinemaFont (A Cinema4D tool), but this is proving time consuming having to convert everything I want to a 3D model & render the image.

Is there another way that anyone knows of?

Thanks, FuZion.

Only way I know is to use TypeSmith 2.5. But it's a commercial program.

$20 is hardly a "but" :)

You can definitely do it the other way around (TTF->PFB) with this:

.. I'm still searching but I am *99% CERTAIN* that there was a Postscript->TTF utility, although it wasn't terribly good because obviously the fonts come out with zero hinting.. it's exactly what you need.

Okay, it's one of those.

I'm intrigued that apparently Windows will convert from PS->TTF via a drag & drop... I never knew that, and it's making me want to try it ;)
