I Found a Pristine A500
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:21:05 PM »
We were cruising a Goodwill looking for a treadmill and guess what.  An Amiga 500 with all the extras, still in the plastic bag, and in the original box.  It's in great shape, no yellowing at all.  It also came with a white Ergo stick and some fantasy game.  Who da thunk?

I rescued it for $39!

This is my 5th one, I'm starting to feel like I'm hording.
The real kick was that it was my wife who found it and brought it to the register.  I really married well!  Grin.

I was lucky enough to find a brand new A500 all by itself on the shelves of a Montgomery Ward store (before they went out of business around here) and managed to talk the store manager down to about the same price as yours IIRC.  I thought about just keeping it minty fresh in the box, but then said, "what the heck, I should get good use from all my Amigas instead of just keeping them in boxes", so it is in use today with an A530 from GVP attached to it.  If anyone has or comes across the PC286 card for the GVP enclosure, please let me know.

I see the PC286 on e-Bay from time 2 time.  Are there compatibility issues with the A530?

No, I am talking about the ones that are intended to fit inside the A530 and A500-HC+ enclosures.  There are no A530 compatibility issues, but there are price limit issues when I bid on them @ eBay. :boohoo:

I got one off of eBay a few months ago for $35 that looked like it had been used for 2 months and then stuffed under a bed somewhere for the next 20 years.
