« on: March 15, 2008, 04:31:01 PM »
another problem is ...... someone can buy Hyperion, but cannot build an amiga computer, you must buy Amiga inc. before.

Amiga 1200 + Blizzard 1230 50 Mhz + 32mb ram + HD 250 MB + Pcmcia card with compact flash 256.

Amiga 2000 + over the top 040 + oktagon 2008 + tandem cd + Toccata 16 + Picasso II + kick 3.1

Commodore 64 + 1541 + 1541 II + Action replay MK IV
Com...

Bill will not sell and Hyperion will not sell.
I would like to see the original C= engineers buy it back.

What is needed here is some one that actually cares for Amiga and not some one who will hold onto something doing nothing.

To be honest if I had the money to do the job I would do it properly never mind others saying its not worth it.  If we all had that attitude nothing in the world would ever get done.

The Amiga is worth it, why?
Well look at it this way when the Amiga first came to the world it was advanced way beyond any PC at that time, so if the right people was there to carry it no with it would be so very different to day.
So yes the Amiga is worth it.  But the trouble is so many people get there hopes up and then get disappointed, this goes on and on.
We don't need some one holding onto something that does nothing, this is totally useless to the Amiga world.
We have some one who don't give a {bleep} for the Amiga it seem's to me

There has to be some one out there with the power to do some thing about this, never mind all the ohhhhh well Microsoft is top dog.
The technology is out there so is the money its just the person holding the keys.  There is no common sense to what is happening its the one who is holding the keys to the problem that cant see it.

F**k am I angry at this.

Betamax was brilliant, but is there anyone who would bring a tape based video recorder back into there house?

Yes, Amiga was brilliant, but the OS needs a complete rewrite to be competitive, then none of the retro software would work and the remaining Amiga people would be ticked off.

What you would need to do is throw out what we call Amiga Dos and start again building the Workbench GUI on top of a UN*X variant.  QNX was a good idea, unfortunately KMOS/Amiga Inc pissed on it and the deal is long dead.

And then you still need a reason for people to switch, there's no modern software out there for Amiga and there's no brilliant idea that would make it a hit.  You could spend tens of millions on development and 22 people would buy it.

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.

Beta was a superior product to VHS too - in fact I use Digital Beta and Beta SP every day at work.  BetaMax died because Sony kept tight the 'keys to the kingdom', whereas VHS - an inferior product but could be mass produced by many companies 'won the war'.

So the betamax thing could hold true on a whole new level... Even *IF* (and thats a pretty big IF) All other criteria were met (an uber machine were made with hype circulating across the whole Comp/Console world - funding was there and it were on the very brink of production..... oh and pigs flew outta my arse..... backwards!) you'd still NEVER get the name.. probably have LESS chance of getting it than ever!

Because they want a big big piece of an ever diminishing pie - if there's $2.00 in Amiga... they want their 1.75

I just wish there were more parts around - I gotta admit programming my Ami was the most fun I've ever had on a computer - ever.

Which is good!  OS4 rocks, and if porting games to macintoshes is what keeps them in business, great!

   Just wait until the trial(s) is/are over.  There will probably not be a Hyperion to buy . . .

Why is that?

If what you are saying is true, then everything was actually dead when they signed the contract to begin with.  And everything to do with OS4 must then be a fantasy - death by pre-conception . . . :-P
