Finnaly ... Take 2 ...  :-)

We've seen amiwest and all the OS4 roadshows ... and maybe not all your questions where answered.

Here is your change to submit your question for Ben Hermans.

Note: This thread is ment for questions for Ben Hermans, not for debate and propaganda. Stay on Topic! If you do not do so, your comment will be deleted or edited as appropriate.

Q: How was your trip to the US? Did you get to do sight seeing or was it purely business?

Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Q: I've heared people complain Linux is dodgey on Amiga One and that is supposed to be very stable isn't it? So how does OS4 compare for stability?
AKA ED-209 on IRC...

How optimistic is do you feel about there being a BlizzPPC version of AOS4 some time soon... or ever?

Okay, wandering out of the latest flamewar on ANN, here's what could be an interesting one...

Q:  Knowing what you know now, what would you nominate as the *worst* limitation of AmigaOS?  It'd be interesting to hear your perspective from the managerial standpoint, and more subjectively as a user.

Hi Ben,

Will my AmigaOne require a UBoot Update before OS4 is released ?

Will there be a home networking Wizard or Guide in OS4 to Allow Drive / Printer Sharing ?

Will the initial AmigaOne Release of OS4 use snap or the forefront Radeon Drivers ?

Will the Warp3D / WarpOS emul be sufficent to play WipeOut 2097 / Payback etc ?

Thanks and keep up the goodwork.

Would there be a support for DVD-/+RW burners?

Would there be a built-in MIDI Soft Synthesizer (similar to “Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth(Roland GS)” or ‘Yamaha XG SoftSynthesizer’)?

AmigaONE

Any discounts available?

Will there be (time limited, evaluation) demo versions avaiable?

question: Will there be any hyperion releases at the same time as os4 gets released , like ...umm Worms Armageddon , SIN ...etc

(yes i know we discussed this before, anyway i wanted to know if any has changed)

Question number 2: Will there be an official Release Tour (ala os4tour) , if so..where to sign up? , alt.woa would be a start but, maybe we should try to have a simmilar thing as os4tour ?
(then people wont have their excuses, too long travel times, plane tickets costs too much...yaddiyada....blabla...)

thanx

Hello
If worst thing happen and Amiga Inc goes down/
bankrupt, will Hyperion  develop AmigaOS 4.5
or 5.0 in the future?
What happen if the new owner of Amiga Inc IP
said that Hyperion cannot use AmigaOS name in
the future versions? Will the name be changed
to HyperOS or something else?
Who will provide support for user if Amiga Inc
goes down?

I probably know the answer to this, but...

Part1:
Does Hyperion have any plans to port games (which may or may not be available for AOS4) to the MOS platform... or any other Platform in this arena?

Part2:
With respect to the answer given in part1, would anything (events/circumstances) change your mind, positivly and negitivly.

I think it would be usefull to be able to boot AOS3.5 or AOS3.9 on the AmigaOS4 capable machine, so that people could continue to use their existing setup while setting up the new system.

Is there any plans of having such mode for new AOS platforms?

(Or is it Alan Redhouse's problem to hire Amithlon author to implement similar system for A1?)

How about Classic PPC Amigas?  I've done it so that I have preserved a AOS3.5 partition (old & patched & easy to crash) beside the AOS3.9 partition. Dificult part starts when I want to boot from the partition with lower boot priority, I need to monitor power led & HDD sound, etc, etc so that I manage to hit both mouse buttons to reach the boot selection screen again and again untill the re-boot nightmare ends in correct system startup (CSMK2 does one reboot, then AOS3.x rom patcher does the second reboot and then ...).

So will there be a easier way  also for classic PPCAmiga users?

(I think it would be very helpfull to be able to set (more permanently than just for one boot at a time) partition boot orders in early startup (perhaps in BIOS for A1) but that would require a new ROM for classic Amigas)

(bah, I bet I no one can understand those questions, but no time to clarify....)

With so few people having blizzard  ppc cards are you going to make enough money from sales of os4 for this card .I have a blizzard ppc myself with a 160 meg of memory.

Is the os4 version for for amigaone the most important version i mean is it going to be the first release. :-)
I once had an amigaone xe but sold it .

amigamad:just a small hint..there is more bppc's than csppc's ..

ksk:use bootmenu on aminet for that (works fine with rtg even...)
(or just make a If then line, saying when u press left mousebutton on startup boot from partition 2 etc)

question for ben: will xmas sales be an important issue for os4/a1 ? , or is it like...non special season campaign for now.... ie any sales at any time is good..  (money is on risk i guess so i had to ask....)
