Upgrading 1240 to 1260

Does anyone have any info on the differences between the Blizzard 1240 and 1260's. I like to know what jumpers to change and parts. say 1260 down to 1240 or back.

I could be wrong but I think it would not be so easy at the two chips run at different voltages, I think the 1260 was a total redsign.

You would have to buy a new card with a 060.
The 060 runs @ 3 v while the 040 runs @ 5 v.
So the logic is different to, so you can't just change the CPU

That's why I need to see a 040 version for, so I can see which jumpers to swap and what the regulator is on the 1240 version is.

So... you're actually trying to downgrade a 68060 card INTO a 68040 card??  

May I ask why?

The only reason I could think of, myself would be because of a faulty/dead 68060, in which case, wouldn't it make more sense to get a new 68060?

I have an blizzardppc 040 and was going to swap out to 060, I now have the info to do that, If I can keep from spending more money I'd like to use the 060 I have on the 1260 since I've not used it but five or so times in two years.

You did check the price of those new 68060 chips, right? :-)

I would say it was smarter to get one of those.

Hmm, I'm not using my Apollo 1240 much, maybe I should as well? ;-)

Edit:

Heh, quick search on google gave me a comment by myself here last year that the Apollo 1240 is a dead end. Maybe it's time to prove myself wrong?
First, remove the chip and insert a socket. Doable, but tough. I have extra 68040 CPU if I muck up, maybe I should check if that one works in the Mac (which already has a socket)...

Blizzard 1260 and 1240 pcb boards are the same !
On my 1240 it's written Phase 5 Blizzard 1260 .

You can upgrade from a 040 to 060 by changing a few parts and jumpers on the board.
Logic doesn't have anything to do with Vcore of the cpu but voltage regulator has !  :-)
