You're only as old as the woman you feel ;-)

@Bloodline

Happy belated birthday. Turned 33 myself just over a month ago :-)

Today I feel about 73, but that's probably down to having a bit of a cold.

@All

Thanks for the jollies and advice. I'm not having much luck shaking out of the malaise just yet, but I'm working on it. I guess I'm just growing into a miserable old fart.

Anyway, time to take the old black dog for a walk...

Sorry having to resuscitate an old thread, but I guess it's better than starting a new one...

As it happens lately I've also been depressed as hell... I think that now I've reached the bottom. I don't know if sharing this with "strangers" (albeit a very nice bunch of "strangers") is going to help, but there you are.

I guess this never ending winter isn't helping either... :-( I am reaching the point where I am becoming completely uninterested in anything and nothing matters anymore...

What do you people do for fun?

The winter weather certainly doesn't help my mood, though I find exercise combats that. You need to try to work out why you're feeling depressed. There has to be a reason buried there somewhere - people don't get depressed for no reason. If nothing immediately comes to mind, then perhaps talking it through with somebody would help you. The hardest part is when you start feeling like nothing matters. It destroys your motivation to help yourself. That's why you have to get yourself out of the rut before you're so far in you can't see the top.

Without wanting to sound like a treehugging hippy, I search for intriguing things, in music, art and nature. Continuously watching the world from a distance, or very very close. And not expecting anything.

As Moto says... get down the Gym... that really does help :-)

You're absolutely right. There is a reason... I'm sick of being single and I don't have many friends. Before I didn't mind so much, I was involved with the Amiga community, I had my videogames etc to distract me. For some reason, none of this matters anymore. For the past year I have been trying to change this situation, and so far I have been completely unsuccessful, which makes me feel like I've lost ever hope to ever achieve anything...

I believe having/walking/etc a 'black dog' is a euphemism for depression ;-)

As if games ever mattered...
Being a gamer it's a tough one for me to say, but I keep my eyes and ears open for the other good things in life, which also "do not matter". I don't care whether something matters or not.

I dunno, I find Tiberium Wars is pretty good at distracting me from things when I start to get stuck in the depressive-thinking cycle.
