HD setup
« on: March 06, 2008, 12:30:44 AM »
Hi,
I have a 2000 that I'm trying to get the HD to get setup on
System is a 2000 with a Catweasel (model Z-11 "S-Class"). with 40.63 rom. I have 3.1 system on disks and a disk called HD install tools.
When I boot up machine with boot disk  ..It asks for HD0: disk with name. I have used the HD tools and it can see the HD and once I had it showing up on workbench  but now I can't get it to show up on work bench. Any clue to what I need to do?
The machine sat for about 10 years no battery on MB and NO damage I tried the small HD that came with machine and same results.
Thanks ,
Xana

How is your hard drive connected to your Amiga? i.e. A2091 card etc.

I recently got my 2000 out of the wardrobe and the drive was dead. This was connected to an A2091. The drive was checked on another Amiga and was found to be definately dead.

I haven't tried another drive on it as I've been busy sorting out the problems with some of my other Amigas

Are you sure your drives are ok?

This may not be relevant but I think my friend's 2000 needed a floppy to enable the hard drive. "Janus" is the name that my somewhat dubious memory has come up with. Could that be the problem?

Hi,
The hard drive is hooked into the Catweasel card along with a CD rom drive and It looks like a PC floppy drive was there at one time (ribbon is there). I found drivers while doing a search for this card But I have no way to make them read with the Amiga. The hard drives seem to be ok one I know is good so and more thoughts?
Thanks,
Xana

I'm sorry to say that the only experience I've had with a 2000 is the standard 2000HD. Which used a A2091 SCSI controller card. This didn't need a floppy to boot up as the controller card had autoboot on it (even with the original 1.3Rom). :-)

I've never come across a CatWeazel and so I'm unable to help you.

Good luck with your problem.
