I just found another Amiga 4000!
« on: March 01, 2008, 04:35:52 AM »
So a few years back in 2004, a customer of mine who still did some toaster work bought a bunch of used Amiga stuff. I traded him out some service for it, as he did not want to store it. There was a realllly nice Amiga 2000 with a toaster, A TBC, AD516 sound board and a Blue Ribbon sound board. It had a GVP 040 board in it. This was really the only Amiga I toyed with for a bit, as I was very busy at work. In a nutshell, I stored all the Amiga's away in my storage unit until early this year, hardly thinking of them at all. I had a 1200 at home that I had not booted in two years...
So in January I start clearing out my storage and find the Amiga parts... Hmmm... A nice A4000 in a custom tower case, and a A3000 in a custom tower case. Both work fantastic! I fitted the A3000 with the AD516 card and hooked it up in the garage to play MP3's while I am working. It has a nice Retina Z3 board for display, and a Warp Engine... The A4000 has a nice Cybergraphx 3D card and an Oktagon SCSI card (it is my main unit now)... So I have been having fun with these Amigas the past 6 weeks or so...
Today I went back to clear out more of my storage and what did I find??? ANOTHER A4000 in a tower (custom)!!!! The motherboard looks like it just came off the assembly line!
So, in the span of 6 weeks I went from one semi-working A1200 in a closet to...
A3000 Tower, two A4000 (One tower, one put back in the desktop case for space reasons), One A1200 in pieces (I keep changing out parts for fun), one really sweet A2000, an A500 up in the attic, and a unique A2200 motherboard that boots OK (Not yet in a case). Total expenditure for all this goodness? About $200 for the A1200, $250 for the )40 board in it, $250 in OS3.5 & 3.9 Disks and Kickstart 3.1 for a few boards...

And next week I have a working A1000 coming in from a guy on Ebay!

Amiga's are way too much fun!

Sounds cool, but I don't understand how you could "forget" you had a nice A4000 in a custom tower? I mean, you must have put it there, even if a few years ago?

I don't know how either! I remembered the one A4000, the A3000 and the A2000, but I really did not remember the second A4000! It was underneath a box of books. Before September of last year, I had only been in my storage unit about 6 times since 2004. I am looking forward to booting it up and making sure it works.

You've really got an A2200!!! I didn't even know they existed! I'm in the UK and apparently they simply never got sold over here.

[EDIT] keep forgetting that its not html

the a2200 was actually sold as the a2500 in an a2000 style case with a2500 badge wasnt it? i think it was a prototype that got renamed. kindof like the a600 was originally the a300.
commodore also built an a3200 and a3400
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
