SWIV and WHDLoad
« on: February 27, 2008, 06:52:09 PM »
I have an original copy of SWIV - 1991 single disk by the Sales Curve. it looks like this one;

Ebay

I also have a registered version of WHDLoad.

I have downloaded the installer from WHDLoad.de. The install appeared to go fine on my 600.

When i run the launcher to start Swiv WHDLoad starts with its splash screen then a black screen follows. shortly after it quits back to the workbench with a requester saying; the data/disk-files are damaged or it is an unsupported version.

I might add that the orignal game disk wont run on my 600 - but i am aware that SWIV only likes A500's???

Can anyone help me?

What version are you using? Is it from a games pack, or a re-release or something?

[EDIT]
Oh sorry just looked at the link. Weren't Kixx versions re-releases? Perhaps that version is not compatible with the WHDLoad install.

Doesn't matter with WHDLoad since the software is patched to run on more modern Amiga systems.

From the WHDLOAD.DE info for SWIV
"
V1.5  13-jan-2008 Psygore:
                          - Kixx version supported
"

Are you sure theres no error on the disk that you just havent come across yet while playing the game???

Would that kind of thing cause problems with whdload installs?

Thats just it - the game doesnt appear to get past the bootblock. The power light flashes then i get the Guru...

I thought this was because the game has serious issues running on anything except the A500.

Now i am wondering - is the disk bad? :-(

Can anyone send me an image of this version to test  :-?

I'd recommend you just download a preinstalled version, then at least you know it's guaranteed to work without much faffing about.

It's clear you own the original so you're not being a bad person downloading a copy :-)
