WHAT THE SMEG IS WRONG WITH MY CSPPC????
« on: February 27, 2008, 03:10:06 AM »
I have been working on setting up an A2000 for my girlfriend.  I bought this A2000 over ten years ago, and it's seen a lot of use/abuse since.  I recently dusted it off, removed the Toaster/Flyer and a whole crapload of other hardware.  I installed a Blizzard 2060, my old CV64/3D, and an A2065.

I am posting from said A2000 right now, but I can barely read what I type because I'm using a defective PS/2 monitor (whole screen is 5x5" big!)

Anyway, this thing SCREAMS.  It's loads faster than my A3000UX with the CSPPC 060/50 EVER was.  (Aside from the slower video, as expected with the lesser graphic card.)
The seller of this 2060 said he didn't overclock it.  Maybe I should check to be sure?  The 060 doesn't even get warm though!

I have half a mind to give my girlfriend the A3000, OS4 and all, and keep this thing for myself!
Get up!  Get up!  Get outta here!  GONE!

I have always preferred the 2000 and 2060 to the 3000 and CSxxx. 2000 is just a workhorse!

I have a Blizzard 2040ERC/40 in a 2000, a CSPPC 68060/604 in an A4000T, and a CS MK III 68060 and they all scream for classic Amiga's IMHO

Perhaps I should upgrade it to a 2060:-)

I gave up trying to max out my A2000's ever since I saw the performance of a ZII graphics card, even with a 040/060.  It really sucked, so I don't other anymore and I now just stick to my A3000/4000's for the beefier upgrades!

A2000+blizzard 2060+CV64/3D
/envy

anyway, whats the spec of your A3000? i havn't got OS4 yet, but i'm guessing OS4 is going to munch dust comparing JIT 68k emulation to a true 68060...

but then, i remember putting a CV64/3D in a bog standard A4000/030 when i had one, and thinking that the screen scrolling was sooooo smooooth. i look at the screen scrolling on my BVPPC now, and i'm a little puzzeled as to why it seems to be having such redraw problems... maybe its the CV64/3D drivers that make it seem so fast?

A500, A600, A1200x3, A2000, A3000, A4000 & a CD32.
and probably just like the rest of you, crates full of related "treasure" for the above XD

Exactly, if it had faster graphics my A2000 would have been loaded by now!

Now it is just a basic 030/25MHz, Picasso2, Ariadne1, Buddha - A2000.

Also 8 MB limit over Z2 slots kinda sucks. But its still a nice professional workhorse for digital media image work and processing.
