Hi,
Sorry for the long post :-)
I'm having trouble getting my old "Power Computing" CD ROM Drive working on my A1200. It use to work on my old hard drive, but that's failed now so I have had to install a new hard drive with workbench 3.0 (manual install since I don't have the Install disk).
I have a PCMCIA Squirrel adaptor connected to the CD ROM drive. The CR DOM drive has 2 SCSI connectors on the back and some phono sockets for audio in/out and power. I understand that the CD ROM has internal termination so it has to be at the end of the SCSI chain. I have no other SCSI devices so this should be ok. Also the SCSI ID has been hardwired to be 3.
I have booted up my hard drive with workbench 3.0 and then installed the floppy disk that was supplied with the CD ROM drive. The installation copies lots of files etc. The CD ROM drive appears in the SCSI Mounter application as:
Unit: 3
Drive Type: SANYO CRD-250S
Rev: 1.19
Cap: Unknown
Status: not ready
When I select the drive and click on the Mount button, I get the error message "Error: Device not of required type".
So I try re-booting but see no CD0: icon :-(
When I attempt to use the Squirrel tools to mount CD0: I get a message saying it's already mounted! However I can not see or access CD0: via the shell or DOpus.
I have checked the CD0: icon information (SYS:Dev/DOSDrivers) and it is as follows:
ACTIVATE=1
DEVICE=cd.device
UNIT=0
FLAGS=1
I'm running out of ideas. Like I said the drive use to work many years ago on my old hard drive, but since I have installed a new hard drive and loaded Workbench 3.0 onto it I can not get it to work.
Note: I do not have the Workbench 3.0 Install disk, so I had to manually copy the other 5 WB disks to the hard drive. Would this make a difference???
Please help :-(
Apologies for the lenghy post, I wanted to get as much info down to help diagnose the problem.
