FA: Blizzard 1260 128 mb RAM

Up for auction is a blizzard 1260 board with 128 mb of ram installed. The 68060 and the crystal is socketed, a modification done by PG of this board. It comes fully tested and functional, and guaranteed against DOA.

I have a few questions for you about this item

1) Will the trapdoor on the bottom of the Amiga close with the RAM module in there?  If it sticks out, how far?  (oops, I see someone asked you this on the ebay page, but maybe someone else here knows?)

2) I'm running my A1200 with an A500 PSU.  Would this still be sufficient?

3) What's the heat output like?  Can that cause any issues?

4) Does it come with the install discs for the 68060 libs?

5) I don't see a battery for the clock like in the pictures on the Amiga hardware site - does it have this feature?

To answer your questions:

1) No, this one has an angled simm socket and you will not be able to close the trap door.

2) Better with an A500 power supply than original A1200.

3) Heat output on the o6o is excellent (low heat) compare to an o4o.

4) You can download o6o libs from many places including here

5) Looks like the batter was removed, could of been from the work PG did???

No, but I can copy the image at phase5.a1k.org for the winners convenience.

Ah, yes. The battery was removed by me many moons ago for safety. The RTC is still functioning, but you need to install a new battery.

The picture of Sys info on the auction has this card rated at 2.03 * A3640 (A4000/040 25MHz).

Surely that is not right (the value is WAY too low).

It is well known that Sysinfo does not recognises the 060 hence it can not benchmark it accurately (note it even detects it as an 68040 running at 4 MHz)
This pic is only there as a proof of "Yes it is not an 68040 it is faster"

That's right, I think I used a program called MIPS to give a better idea of performance.

SysInfo uses just one integer unit of 060's two, so the MIPS are about half what it's capable with 060 supporting code. The "real" MIPS of 060 is about 80 (what SysSpeed 2.6 shows).

I bought one via eBay US seven years ago for about the same price - but it came with an A1200 in tower casing  ;-) , and also the SCSI module  :-D  and an external scsi CDROM drv (and also kybd, mouse, bunch of software blah blah blah)  :-P

but only to keep them in a closet  :-(
