Amiga Forever screen res Q
« on: February 25, 2008, 05:29:58 AM »
I just purchased Amiga Forever online for my XP box.  The native res of my screen is 1600x1024.  (GeForce 6600 GT)

I'd like to know how to change the default res of the "Workbench 3.1" start link to that res.  When I go to AUE Config link, it starts off pretty much blank, far less config'ed vs. whatever's going on for the WB 3.1 link.  How do I keep all like it is on that WB 3.1 link but just change the res to 1600x1024?

Thanks.

Run Amiga Forever with the 3.x configuration and let it boot. Then click on the ScreenMode icon in the tool bar (the sixth from the right). Select the desired resolution and colour depth and click on Use. If it works, run ScreenMode again and click on Save.

Changing the screen mode hides the tool bar. To get it back open System and WBStartup and run ToolManager twice (once to stop it and once to restart it).

Bye,
Thomas

That was the first thing I tried.  It gives a max res of 800x600.  Can't UAE emulate RTG gfx cards?  That would let me get the native res I want likely, but on the UAE config side I'd need to set the res, I'm guessing.

?  Tnx.

Well, like I was saying in my orig post, when I go to WinUAE options it presents me with a pretty blank Amiga.  I'd like to edit the presets that are tied to the "Workbench 3.1" link from the AmigaForever launch screen.  So everything stays the same (knows where ROM is, HD images, etc.) but I can just edit the gfx settings.

How can this be done?  Thanks.

On the Amiga side, you need the UAEGFX monitor driver in Devs:Monitors, as well as the Picasso96 libraries. I can't remember what needs to be configured in UAE.

An easy solution would be to download Amikit and look how it is set up. Even better, just use Amikit.

I dl'ed AmiKit.  Installed - I have OS 3.9 CD onhand, etc.  I pointed it to Cloanto's AmigaForever 3.1 ROM.  I keep getting orange guru "Recoverable Errors" on boot.

Is that Cloanto ROM modified somehow?  Tnx.

Yes, it's encrypted. There is a file called rom.key supplied with AmigaForever, you need to copy it into the WinUAE ROM directory.

Ah.

I own an Amiga 1200 w/ 3.1 ROMs.  I guess there's a ROM dump app somewhere.

I'm sure I'd get run out of here for asking for a dl site, despite my owning an actual A1200.

A good ROM dumping tool is SaveROM, part of the BlizKick package. It's on Aminet, and you can use it in UAE to save out a decrypted ROM.
