Light and fluffy so they give a bit of "boing" and preferably served by Denise or Paula as Lorraine is never about.

Pancake-like, aka FLAT.  Pancakes are FLAT or they are not pancakes, hence the term 'flat as a PANCAKE'.

Like bacon.  It is only supposed to be served bacony, aka CRISP.  It is improper any other way.

Now, let's all go to George Webb's!!!

I always hate breakfast when I visit the US, they cut all the meat off a rasher and call it bacon.  So all you are left with is the stuff you'd usually leave on the plate.  What do they do with the real bacon in the US?

Real bacon comes from Usinger's.  Plain and simple :-)

I generally don't eat pancakes off my Amiga, I find a plate is better at this.

Do people in France think the word pancake is redundant?

All I know is the waste product they sell as "bacon" isn't bacon shaped, it's a rectangular piece of fat with almost no meat content, sort of like streaky bacon but with even less meat.  The stuff should be sold with a defibrillator. Real bacon is mostly meat, has a round end to it and is served soft.  Real bacon looks a lot like ham.  Real bacon is not a slab of fat fried beyond recognition.

(The American bacon is an approximation as I couldn't bring it to Australia, something about importing toxic waste...)

I would not be surprised to find that the smoke particle content of Usinger's bacon is higher than the fat content.  It's far meatier than that picture of Aussie bacon.  I don't know where you got your bacon here, I've never seen one like the one in your picture.

The I've usually seen is made by that international food giant Kraft, bearing their Oscar Meier brand.

Nice iron!!

I am tempted to put some Usinger's on mine and take a picture.  But, it's too expensive, and reserved for Sunday mornings.

And, unless something's changed in the past few years, Oscar Meier badged products are all produced about 60 miles to the west of here on Packer Avenue.  (really stinks around there)
