Cyberstorm 060 mkII with 96 megs but no SCSI daughterboard
« on: July 29, 2003, 06:05:22 PM »
Help!  I've had the CS mkII for about six months (found it E-bay) and truely love the speed-up.  There are some compatibility issues that I can't determine are caused by my configuration and setup or must I simply grin and bare it.
First, I noticed that graphical buttons in some programs (Final Writer, ....) are corrupted after the machine has been on and other programs have run.
Second, some programs simple guru.  Distant Suns (still useful) did run with the 060 at first, but, not since reformatting the boot drive.  I've tried duplicating the original boot config, but no luck.
Setppatch: I think I use the latest. Is another more compatible?
68060.lib:  again the latest, but I've tried 2 other older versions.
68040.lib?  I have several of these too.  I currently use one that is very small, it appears to point to the 68060.lib.
96Megs:  someone suggested 96megs was an illegal expansion.  Can the mkII support 3 memory cards, or, must there be 1, 2, or 4 cards?

I'm certain that there are people more knowlegeable about this card than me.  I would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm not an expert about the A3000
I use all the latest library's 060/040
Which GFX System ? Picasso96 or CyberGraphX ?

I use to run CyberGraphX 4 with the latest updates..

corrupted buttons: I had that with older CGX-Versions..

Memory on the CSMKII: I use 4x16Meg EDO Modules
before I had only 2x16Meg

I can bet  you anything it has to be your RAM on the accel. Card. I had a 16mb module that after awhile, you can see messed up text and even the buttons got ugly. I then put in a 32mb EDO module on my 68030 accel card, and after that, the gfx were no longer corrupted.  I may be wrong, but changing the memory was the fix to the problem.

Hi,

The CS2 I have works with all combos of simms I have tried.  4, 8, 16
and 32 Mb modules in both Fast Paged and EDO, 70 and 60 ns in any
combonation (mix) with 1, 2, 3 or 4 simms installed!

I have tried many simms, they do not have to be in pairs.

I use the 060 librarys from the MUForce package

Aminet MUForce

I had strange graphics corruption under P96, but not what you
describe.  I now use CGX4.

Is your 060 overclocked?

Are you running any hacks (MCP, Birdie, etc.)?
AMIGA 3000dT 060~66mhz RAM: *128*Mb/CyberVision64: *4*Mb/*18*Gb SCSI HDDs CD ROM CD-RW

@Tenacious

PFS2 is known as a bugged filesystem.

Wich value have you set for MaxTransfer?

Ciao

PS- i suggest you to upgrade to PFS3 or SFS (free)

Thanks for the insights.

@Duesi, I run P96, never tried Cybergraphics. Maybe I should.

@Miles, didn't modify the CS060, I think it's stock.  Hacks: PowerSnap, Matrix (screensaver), Screentab (startbar), and CycleToMenu.  I DL'ed MuForce, didn't fix the prob. and the libs were older, not that it matters.  I'm using:
68060.lib   v44.3
68040.lib   v40.2
Setpatch    v44.38  from BB2?

@Ciao,   my Max Tranfers = 0xffffff   Never tried SFS.  While using PFS2 last year, IB2.2 crashed and trashed my Cache: partition.  I could never recover that partition, eventually had to reformat the whole drive.  Now I'm afraid to have a Cache on the HD, use RAM: instead.
