Maybe an internal PSU like one of those "on a card" psu, kinda like the PSX one. That would fit :-)

WinUAE Only... OS3.9 with 512mb ZIII ram ;)

A laptop Amiga One G3/G4 would be nice, but highly implausable. If one came out I could probably aford it by 2020 AD. :-D

I'd dearly love to see such a machine, as the A1200 was a great entry level computer that the market sorely needs today.

However, in practical terms it can never happen.  Such a machine would need a large production run in order to be viable, and would thus need a multi-million dollar advertising budget.  It would also need a unique and high quality software base (with incentives to software manufacturers to publish titles), and a bespoke design as an off the shelf chipset would prove expensive in the long run.

Added to that is the fact that a low end PC is not much more to buy than a top end XBox/PS2 bundle, which has already squeezed out Atari, Sega and is putting huge pressure on Nintendo.

Clearly a company like Amiga and/or partners simply haven't got the resources to mount an attack at this end of the market, but I'd love to see a new generation A500/1200.

@Crumb:

I think it's a BIT late to redesign the AmigaOne Lite now ;-)

Alan stated at the Amiwest show that an ITX AmigaOne would be out in due time - being G3 based would allow a very small and silent configuration.

Okay, dream mode on.....

C64 Case with the following ingredients:

750 meg zip drive built in (LS120? 880k drive?)
CD/RW (or DVD/CD player) and 4 CF slots
3, maybe 4 Ram slots, to 3 gig. or 4 gig. (comes with 512 megs)
touch pad for pointer control
hard drive optional
Holographic projector for a display (like R2D2, 2000x2000x2000 "real space" pixel resolution), comes with the deluxe model.

Almost entirely solid state! :-D

AmigaOne! The waking dream!

So I guess that A500, 600, 1000, 2000, CDTV, CD32, are pure garbage then? Thanks for posting here.

@PMC:

So you would like one, but only with a multi-millon dollar advertising budget?

That just doesn't make sense and you know it ;-)

The AmigaOne Lite is nearly complete, AFAIK. We're just talking about how to package it. It won't fit in any of the standard casings anyway, right?

Hmm, I just found this one one mini-itx.com:
http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/sx64/?page=3

He's using the original keyboard, screen AND has a SID in there. Mini-ITX in an SX64 (luggable C64) casing. Wow.

I think Eyetech should put an AGP slot directly on on side, much like the A1200 accel-slot, also add a laptop style PCI slot for soundcards.  That way you could upgrade the graphics/sound/cpu as you want, and all put into a modified/updated A1200 style case, a great thought. And with that thougt I'm off to do my wife now. :hammer:  :lol:

I'd like one, but my point was that in today's world for such a machine to be a commercial success (and we all want that don't we? ;-D) a massive budget is a prerequisite.  That was just me beign a realist, not a dreamer!

Not too sure about the OS4 date, i know its well late tho...

Good things come to those who wait eh? You only gotta look at Micro$oft products to prove that.

Kev :-D

ps. id rather wait and get more bugs off it than head in at the deep end lol
