Morph in "classic"
« on: February 15, 2008, 08:39:27 PM »
Tonight I decided to give another try to Morphos in my main amiga setup, this amiga has recently (just for test) run MOS, but as I try tonight I have a problem that I have seen many times even in this machine.

my amiga is an 603/266 060/60,bvision with scsi and powerflyer.
I burned a CD with MOS 1.4.5 and I plugged another new scsi HD 9GB that I formated from os3.9 in 3 partitions 1st 1.9GB 2nd 1.9GB 3d the rest.
 I formated the 1st partition with FFS and tried to copy the contents of the CD to that partition almost all copied except some fonts that given me the error that they already exists.. I found out that is something with longfile names on FFS but I didn't paid attention because I think everytime I setup MOS was like that.(not sure thought)

also because I don't know exactly how to use the bootdevice command for sure, from HDtoolbox I set the MOS partition to have a priority over anyother partition. I checked the startup-sequence but I didn't changed anything because it was ok for A1200 (default settings).
 I turned off the machine and after a while I turned it back on, it started to boot from the correct HD but when it had to do a restart it freezed...
I will try again from an IDE HD connected as master and alone at primary connector on powerflyer to see if its any difference ..

Any thoughts-solutions?

I use it and you have to set the bootdevice like it's said in the text of the startup-sequence itself. There's a literally written example of how to use it.

Read the whole text carefully because you have to edit some parts. Also you can try to use the idehack version of module.com1 instead of the normal one.

Also try different reset levels, I had to play around a bit before I got it working.

@FLASHLAB

my partition name is IDH0:
so the command will be exactly like this?(with quotes and bootdevice written twice)? :
set bootdevice "bootdevice=IDH0"

@AndrewBell
The weird thing is that last time that MOS worked was with reset leve and delay set at default "1".
do you remember your settings?

That looks correct.

No, but I have a CSPPC, not a Blizzard.

Google for MorphOS PowerUP, that should take you straight to a few useful threads on the MorphOS forums. I deleted MorphOS to install AOS4, so I'm going entirely from (a poor) memory.  :lol:

ofcourse bootdevice is not the problem as MOS doesn't pass the first reset...

Anyone knows what file system and format options must I use so MOS will not have problems in booting and with large fimenames?

I use SFS too. When the bootloader resets the Amiga the screen stays black for a while and then the butterfly logo should appear.
