Distorted MOD playback
« on: July 28, 2003, 10:50:03 PM »
Hi!

I'm having problem with MOD playback. The sound is often distorted, almost sounding like glitches in an MP3 stream. I'm using an Amiga 4000, with OS3.9BB2 installed. I've tried with different versions of audio.device, from 37.10 and up, to no avail...

Has anyone the same symptoms or perhaps a cure for the problem?? There are far too many good MODs out there to have this problem...

Have you a genlock installed and workings?

Ciao

PS- If you are useing HyppoPlayer, try to enable "Protracker tempo" in Play-1 Preference.

Hmm... Framiga brings up a good point.

If the tempo is wrong in a MOD, the samples won't break/loop at the right point, and they will pop and click.

Also, as odd as it sounds, PAL/NTSC screenmodes can affect playback.

You may want to try another MOD player.  I've found that DeliTracker is probably the best at detecting what type of mod you are trying to play, and then figuring out how to best play it back on your system.  (Or at least it works darn well on my 4000/060 OS3.9BB2 system)

Hi!

I had tried a plethora of players, but apparently most of them had bugs in them. DeliTracker don't have that bug :))
The timing problem seems like the best explanation, but I have no idea why it occurs in my system.
I'm using a P96 screenmode, maybe that affects it?

Anyway, seems I can recommend DeliTracker too, now :) Thanks, guys!
