So, should I assume that this monitor won't work with a regular old Amiga 2000? I wanna know if I should bother getting the proper cable.

Looks like all I'd need is a gender changer. I have a 9 to 15 pin converter thing, so I take it that all I really need to do is to connect my A2000 to the monitor without some kind of intermediary signal processing box. Am I unwrong?

You need a scandoubler since the Amiga 2000 outputs at 15khz (unless you have a gfx card but then you won't see the native modes)

If you use DoublePAL/DoubleNTSC modes: yes.

You need one of the rare monitors that sync down to 15 kHz horizontally if you want to play games/demos without any extra hardware (scandoubler, vga box, etc)

No, a Toaster is only useful for videoproduction, not for showing the Workbench on a VGA monitor. Besides, the toaster also outputs 15khz...
