WTD: Dead A500/A600/A1200 Power supply cables
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:31:14 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm still in the initial planning stages but I'm looking at making some simple adapters for ATX to A500/A600/A1200 systems for power. I know all the information is well documented on how to do this and that most of us would have no problem doing it ourselves.

I'd like to do this and release the adapters at cost to the community, in case someone can't do it themselves. If anyone has any Dead A500/A600/A1200 Power supplies that can have the  computer side cable pulled off and sent to me?

There must be a lot of them around if people look. So keep your eyes out, I know I can find the rest of the parts cheap to set some of these up. The biggest thing lacking is the custom din connector on the Amiga side.

Thanks,
-Nyle
I think, Therefore - Amiga....

if you could get a steady supply of the amiga side connectors it takes about 30 seconds to make an adapter! or to just wire it to an old AT powersupply like i did.

I once tried hooking up an ATX Power supply to an Amiga 500 and the grounding was shaky and caused some major problems in properly getting the A500 to boot up and stay on.  Did you solder the wires or just twist them around?  It definitely did not take me 30 seconds.

if you're doing a tower conversion, I just desoldered the powerplug on my a600, and soldered my custom cable to the solder holes. then you can build your own power connector from the atx psu side. looks much more professional than a sticking out power cable.
