OS3.9 setpatch???

I recently returned to service my A4000D/PowerTower CSPPC which has/had a problem operating where the mouse would work for a few seconds, then it would not respond to mouse clicks and its movement would be erratic and jerky for several seconds before returning to the cycle of working and moving correctly for a few seconds more.

I don't know why, but for some reason I thought it may be related to the setpatch command in the C directory and startup-sequence, so I renamed my setpatch file to SetPatchOld and replace it with a SetPatch file from my Phase5 PowerUp System Disk floppy.

This fixed the problem with the intermittent operation of the mouse/computer, but changed the look of icons and Workbench.  I am sure it has also changed a lot of other functionality, so I am looking for the correct setpatch file to use with my OS3.9 Workbench, but could not find a previous thread on this topic.

Can any of you help me out in finding the best/correct setpatch file to download and use?

Other tips on optimizing OS3.9 are also requested.

I'm running OS3.9 with setpatch V 44.38 on my non PPC 4000T and don't have any problems with the mouse. Have you tried removing the PPC card to see if the problem goes away?

I sold the original 68040 and don't want to tear apart another of my Amigas to put a different CPU in my PowerTower A4000. Also, mine is not an A4000T, it is the A4000D in a PowerTower, not that it should make any difference.  Why do you think it is a fault in my CSPPC?

Is v44.38 SetPatch the version that is on the OS3.9CD?
