Warning to eBay sellers! No more negative feedback option!
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:35:59 AM »
If you thought the levels of stupidity could get no worse, think again. eBay has decided sellers no longer have the option to leave negative or even neutral feedback!

A user comes in and clicks buy-it-now on thousands of dollars worth of items and never pays? Oh well!! Positive feedback or no feedback! A user clicks buy it now on hundreds (or thousands) of items in your eBay store and does not pay? You can still apply for fee refunds, for each item, one at a time, which will take many hours or days, but forget negative feedback. Yes, I've had both happen to me. Yes, at least I could leave negative feedback, even though I got retaliatory negatives. Now you won't be able to leave a negative, but the buyer who screws you can!

eBay if going to implode from it's own stupidity. People are not happy!

So sellers, beware! Sell your AmigaOne or CSPPC on eBay? Better hope it is not a rogue buyer who has his credit card company reverse the charges! You will be without your AI/CSPPC, without any money, and without way to warn other sellers with feedback!

If taking money by Paypal, maybe you could have the money off loaded before you ship big money items. Have Paypal send you a check for your money and then even a reversed charge won't work.

Some thing needs to improve about the feedback system, but this doesn't sound like the answer.

I've been using paypal for years with over 100+ transactions and 100% 140 feedback without a problem. I keep a separate bank account for paypal, and I keep both accounts empty moving funds out of harms way to a private account.

The biggest compaint I have about the feedback system is you only have one line (80 Chars?) to describe what some times can take a paragraph to get strait. Give us more room, and give us a chance to change feedback once some mediation has gone on to resolve issues. Orrrrr, let the ebayer block feedback options until ebay has a chance to review a dispute.

Couldn't agree with you more, Red!  My first sale I was hit with a bad bidder who never even responded.  I had to wait a few weeks before I could relist the item and find a legitimate buyer.

Based on a CNN article I found this morning, looks like the Sellers are heading to a boycott.  Should be interesting.  You can find the story here!

A6000 Said:

I have spent too much on Ebay already.

Amen brother.  If nothing else we have that in common and agree on it.

A6000 also said:

the bidding system on Ebay does not get them the highest possible price.

Where else could the sellers go and get more?  Ebay gets you the highest price you are going to get for your items 99.9% of the time because of the amount of people it reaches.  95% of the Amiga stuff that sells online would be sent to the landfills if it wasn't for EBay.  It has kept the hobby alive.  Could you imagine having a yard sale and getting $300 or $400 for an Amiga 4000?  That happens everyday on EBay.  At a yard sale you'd be hard pressed and really need the right buyer to get $30 or $40.

I remember reading one of Michael Moore's books and he was asking a business executive how much profit is enough?  He couldn't get an answer because no amount of profit is ever enough from a company's (sellers) point of view.  You always want more.
