Easy, scumbags look at people who spend large amounts of money on collectable items, and figure they're greedy speculators and tempt them with "rare" equipment at low low prices, just not within the usual ebay paramaters.

If you bid the normal way, there should be no problem.

the real "seller" write me on my normal "ebay" mail box :

I am not sure which card/auction you are referring to, but I definitely did not send out any second chance offers to anyone, for any of my auctions. I would suspect that those most likely are some sort of phishing scams that ultimately want access your paypal account (just a guess). I've been receiving the same sort of phishing e-mails, but as a seller, encouraging me to log in to my "ebay" or "paypal" account so that I could then screw myself over and give away my login and password to the scammer, and then they run away with my money. Be extra careful my friend, as these scammers seem to be targeting eBay these days. Regards, stillthehardest

Dealing on eBay really isn't that hard, OR dangerous - IF you only deal with the online auctions and deal deal with people with a good feedback ratings.
I started both buying and selling on eBay about eight months ago - and (knock on wood) I haven't had one single problem. Another rule is to use Paypal exclusively (it may be pricey, but its safe).

This caught my eye as I'm suffering from an apparent fraudulent payment at the moment!
I've been buying and selling on eBay for about 4 years and on and off get scammers and con artists trying it on, but have mostly been ok. I have only ever been seriously stung as a seller.
Once by selling a copy of Moonstone to a chap in Germany, who claimed never to have received it, but then ending up selling the exact item a fortnight later (and utterly unable to account for as to where this item had 'magically' appeared from fobbing me off with some utterly unrelated purchase from Australia) I actually felt like paying the cheeky fella a visit. PayPal and eBay left me in the lurch over that and I had to receive compensation via the Royal Mail!
Lesson Learnt, or so I thought.
Today, I dispatched a low end (Pentium I 40mb RAM 800MB HDD) Laptop to a guy in Essex, good feedback rating, confirmed address, PayPal Payment, all good indicators. This very afternoon PayPal contact me saying they're investigating the transaction and not to dispatch the Item! Too late sunshine! I pride myself on good customer service and have always dispatched items as soon as they are paid for.
TBH if it was some all singing all dancing wonder Laptop and I was flogging it to a guy in Nigeria, then I would actually kick myself in the head for that, but this little thing? What's the point?
It sounds like somebody has fraudulently used a legitimate buyers account to scam me, however, I'm hopeful that I'll get my money back as I am fully covered by PayPal's seller protection, but I'm not going to bet the farm on that.

Yeah,

this happens alot, a friend of mine got the same kind of email to an auction, the silly thing is that he was the seller of the item not a bidder, was kind of amusing.

It seems to me that they just look at the auctions that have alot of bidders on it, silly thing is, "they" say that the high bidder like didn't pay or stuff like that, normally the email turns up like 5mins to and hour after the auction finishes... o_O?

You also normally have more luck getting your credit card company or bank to get you the money back since, unlike paypal they actually care, and have a bit more weight behind them.

@CLS2086
Sounds like he's the seller or has contacts with him otherwise how did he got your email in the 1st place ? Did you exchange any emails with the seller before even if regarding this item ?

@r0jaws
Just curious, did you ship to his paypal adress ? If so that means he hijacked some user's Paypal account at the same time.

One place I've found to be dangerous is obviously cybercafes, beware of using money related services on them!

Wtf??? This is so retarded. I had no idea scammers had reached such a low point!

Well, now it would be funny to send emails to all those a$$hole$ and ask them detailed technical questions about the BVision. Just to see how far they would get.

And also how did they find your email address?

And also... $305 for a BVision... that's insane!! LOL, I am not selling anything anymore from this point on.

These kind scammers don't KNOW E-mailadresses, they just GUESS them.

I've had the same thing a few months ago when I placed some bids on an A4000 on Ebay. Before the auction ended I got an E-mail from some scam artist, but not on the address I use for Ebay.

How's this possible? Very easy: my Ebay username is McVenco, and I also have a Hotmail address with that name. I received the scam on that hotmail address, though my Ebay address is something else.

Finally: they're not aiming specifically on Amiga, they just look at auctions with high prices.

If you want to have fun you can really lead these guys on.  They don't know a lick about the Amiga, so you can ask them if the Blizzard PPC accelerator (or whatever) has the optional goldfish glued to it, becuase if it does you will pay more.  They will usually respond enthusiastically saying YES it does!  Also, since they don't keep track of all their scams, you can change the product name in every e-mail and they will always respond with they name of the product exactly how you changed it (even if you change it from a PPC accelerator to running shoes).
