Miami keyfile

Hi.. does anyone have keyfiles for miami 3.2b for sale, or anyone know where to buy it ?

Its no longer for sale and hasn't been for years. Why not upgrade to OS 3.9 which has a Internet stack included?

i trying to get samba to work on  os 3.1 and it's need miami.. and i can't save settings unless its registred!
i have OS 3.9 on another disk, but still i need miami to configure samba, don't I ?

I have Samba running on 3.9 with the supplied version of Genesis, absolutely no problem, and if anything, it's a whole heap faster than Miami. I have a keyfile for Miami but I'm gonna hold onto it seeing as occasionally I use the Amiga on very odd networks and Genesis simply can't handle them. I'd recommend giving 3.9 a shot - really is  much more reliable and speedy Samba connection.

I know absolutely nothing about TCP stacks, so a little info would be appreciated.

I've used a reg'd version of Miami for years, not even tried Genesis. I now have a broadband connection.

Is Genesis better than Miami, if so, how (in plain English

Genesis can only be used together with a router when connecting to broadband. Once you got it it`s fine.

If you want to connect your amiga directly to the cablemodem MiamiDX is your only choice as it is the only Amiga stack that can handle this.

As most user go through a router today anyway ist just a matter of personal preference...

Genesis (and any AmiTCP/IP) is much faster than Miami, so if you don't need DHCP or PPPOE I'd recommend it over Miami.

Samba isn't tied on any certain stack. It will work from old AmiTCP:s to Genesis and Miami.

Don't EVER connect to a cable modem, or any other way that connects a computer directly to a WAN without a router unless you can't avoid it!  Adequate routers can be had very cheap.  A simple router will stop most of the attacks on your computer.

i am using amigakit`s  easynet tcp stack connected to my broadband live box, 5mtr lead,from my 10/100 fast ethernet card no problem.

The Internet stack in OS 3.9 is free unlike the crippled version you got in OS 3.5 (OS 3.0 or 3.1 had no internet stack).

The only other stacks available are TermiteTCP, AmiTCP,
Miami, MiamiDx, Genesis.

OS 3.5 was supposed to have full blown TCP/IP stack, too. It ended up having miami demo. For 3.9 Haage&Partner just went and stole Genesis.
