Amiga One XE-G4 for Sale
« on: January 18, 2008, 01:20:29 AM »
A local (to me in Sacramento)long time SACC member has a new, unused AmigaOne XE-G4 for sale.

Part of the sale is 512 memory stick, Radeon 7000 video card,
Sound Blaster sb0220, OS4 cd (of course)

EDIT

Only owner wants $1600 or best offer!

Sigh,
Michael

It's worth way more than that. You could quadruple that price and it would still be too cheap.

Software Hut was selling the MB and CPU for $1000.00 when they came out, and $1500.00 for the complete system.

It's worth whatever the buyer and seller are willing to settle for now I guess. Sounds like a neat find if you can get it for a good price. I sure wouldn't pay a grand for one now, but then again I didn't then either:-)

Upon release, wasn't the suggested retail $750? If you're looking for a local buyer, let me know, although I'm not willing to pay $750. ;-) If you're looking for a big win, eBay is the way to go.

EDIT: My bad. Exchange rates at the time would have put it between $850 and $1000.

I think a local buyer is one positive.

I was hoping to get an understanding of the going rate to see if I or other locals could/would afford to pay whatever he paid for it when he bought it.

I didn't get as much info as I would like...sigh

Does it have the "fix"? If it is guaranteed working and has the fix you may get a crazy amount for it, like $800. I'd say just eBay it. You will get at least market value and you may even hit the lottery.

Selling direct through forums is tough, hit or miss at best. At the very least you should get at least $500 based on rarity of a working AmigaOne.

-Edit-
Now I see you are thinking about buying it. Value is in the eye of the beholder. I wouldn't buy an AmigaOne at any price, too much risk of it dying right quick for my taste. Others (historically) would likely bid it up to crazy lofty amounts (possibly $800+ on eBay) just to be able to run OS4.. I say historically because they have not been on eBay for a while afaik. What people would pay a few years ago, we could only guess if they would now.

Another question is if the OS4 CD is legal and registered and who is it legally registered to? They would need to be willing to jump through hoops to get that registration transfered to the new owner.

Yep, I was thinking of buying. (if I could afford it)

It was DIY project that was left due to health.
Yes, legal OS4, never registered, never powered up. Not fixed.

So, I thought if I knew the price he paid, I could make a fair offer...and not be turned down.

If it was too rich for me, I would then let everyone know and they would have a chance to buy.

Now I know more, kind of...

EDIT: I figured it out...
every one is just focused on the motherboard (800)approx
The ram is registered and very expensive (300)or more
the other boards (100)guess

He'd get about twice as much if he ships internationally.

Roughly $2000

Mainly due to the dollar having dropped in value over the past few years.

Suggestions in the $2000 range is probably too wishful. If you get an offer in the $1,000 range, take it IMHO.

Holy macaroni. Let's see, unsupported AmigaOne, state of the art gaming PC (well, with only one video card), or new Vespa. Hmmm.
