trapdoor expansion
« on: January 15, 2008, 02:43:05 PM »
hi ive just opened up my a1200 for the first time, the card in the trapdoor slot is an mc68030fe16b, is this the basic card that comes as standard with the a1200 or an accelerated version, also some of my games are all fuzzy on screen when i try to play them, is this a hardware problem, thanks all, dave

The card is not a standard item from Commodore, it's a user addon.

Not shure what you mean by fuzzy on screen?

the games load up when i click on them, but you cant make out anything when the title screen comes up and therefore cant do anything, is that user addon any good or does it need upgrading. thanks, dave

Open a Shell, type "ShowConfig" and tell us what it says...

Alternatively, look in Tools and double-click on the ShowConfig icon.

No. Regular TV should be fine.

Where are you loading them from? Hard disk? Floppy disk?

What games are they?

Are you really new to this? Have you tried using the boot-up settings?

I think that game is neither 030 nor AGA (A1200) compatible out of the box.

You can either:

Hold down both mouse buttons when you reboot your Amiga to enter the early startup menu. There you can switch off CPU caches and switch the chipset to ECS.

You could install WHDload, a program which patches many games to make them compatible.

Damn you Alex, I was going to suggest that.

Follow the path here after the mouse button trick...

Click on Boot Options, Disable CPU Caches, Use, Display Options, Chip type 'Original', Use and Boot. Try and run the application again.
