Amiga OS 4 3D Graphics question
« on: January 14, 2008, 02:59:49 AM »
I know that there is a compatability list and I want to know does anyone know what video cards have 3D built into them?
I am going to check the list again.
Thanks.
edit:
I went to www.Amigakit.com and the compatability list it gone.
The Acube site shows minimig, which is cool, but not OS4.0.

Thanks for asking that.
I found that Amiga One had 3D card and Altivec.
Os4 Classic hardware list is now where to be found.
What can Os4 classic use as far as 3D cards and can it use Altivec?

Im pretty sure that OS4 on classic does not support warp3d at present so all 3d is done in software rendering.  The 3D of any of the cards that OS4 supports is not used.

None of the classic PPC cards have a ccpu with altivec so no OS4 on classic can not use it

Why wouldn't it support Warp3D? IIRC warp3D always had support for Voodoo3 graphics cards and Cyber-/Blizzard-Vision cards. I see no reason why they'd scrap that support.

Thanks.
I notice Voodoo 3 3000.
Could support be added by driver, lib, etc?

@CLS2086, JJ:

I think you are confussing Warp3D, the 3D HW API with WarpUP wrapper, which was removed because it needed too many workarounds to make just a bunch of games work.

Please check your information before presenting it as facts.

No, it's still there. I know because I added display-lists to MiniGL which relies on Warp3D. There are Warp3D drivers for Radeon 7000-9000 cards too.

The above link talks about the 4xx range (cell phone and information appliances ) up to server cpu's.
edit by me:
Then it talks about PPC/Cell cpu.
What is your take on it?
Does this fit into AMi/Anywhere?
This is probably not a new subject posted here.
This is Amiga One OS4 though.
Did not mean to cause an arguement. :-D
