CD32 embossed case
« on: July 22, 2003, 10:36:16 PM »
In lack of more important things to  ask, I wanted to know what the most common CD32-case was. Mine merely has a printed Commodore logo in the upper right corner, but on all pictures I've seen this Commodore logo is embossed in to the case. You can see some CD32's here.
So, how do your's look?

Intriguing, ain't it?  :-D

How does this prototype differ from the real thing? Does it have any nice circuits that never made it to the final design?
How many versions/revision of the CD32 exists?

it differs quite a bit as this is the unit that was sent out to software houses to make porting of theyre original Amiga Games easier to the CD32 i wrote some about it before for A-h.com wich you can check there + pics of it http://www.amiga-hardware.com/cd32.html

Ah, I see on this picture that it has the embossed Commodore logo atleast. Maybe this embossed logo was only on the developer and "photomodel" versions?

hmm, one of mine has a sticker....not embossed..

my second is embossed into the plastic...hmm i never noticed it before now....

also there where 2 models iirc...placing of the laser system etc, i dont know if its diffrent in other places than that, just saw that one on ebay some time ago was placed diffrently..

also i belived the developerkits wasnt named due to project 32 wasnt named, all they knew was that they wanted a sega styled name iirc, and it was 32bit....heh...commodore really loved sega :P

but its sad that...just when cd32 took off (better sales etc) commodore went belly up...

;((

imho cd32 with tripple A would have been a superb console i guess ;)
Whats up with all the hate!

I bought my first CD32 from Canada, that one had the embossed logo.  The one I got here in the US had the printed logo. I think this was to tell the difference between the two markets. I have looked at the bottom of both units, CN for Canada and the other had US  printed next to the model number. Both were made in the Phillipines.

Also does anyone here have the mpeg card for CD32?  I had a blast playing movies like T2 and Star Trek II before there was DVD.

I have a Full Motion Video Card for my CD32.......as for the embossed CD32...those let you know that the unit is either from the UK or that it is from Canada.....the USA version is the only one that has the logo printed in white as far as i know......I have owned many CD32's and all were American ones and all were with the painted logo. I also have an   SX-1 (Yes the SX-1 does have a battery), and 3 SX32Pro's a remote control for the CD32 and 2 CD32 units and The Original Exclusive CD32 keyboard in grey ( very rare!) it is a grey 4000 keyboard with the CD32 logo on it.
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Mine is one of the embossed ones (UK). And the PSU is *still* round my ex girlfriend's place - it's only been there about 3 years! Shame is it has a different connector to A500 PSUs, one of which I have spare...

Did any of them NOT have a "waggadagga" lid that threatened to break off at any moment?  :-)
